Two things, first you quoted a piece in Fox News (a Rupert Murdoch rag), as if it could be trusted. Second, you ignored the important point here. The government isn't funding research on penis size issues, they are funding a promising postdoc who is looking at trying to reduce health costs and chose to use a title for his research that would get his work noticed (it worked, how many of his fellow grad students are you and I talking about ;))? Its all about the spin Itchiban. ;)

FQ yet again shows his liberal bias. While one of Murdoch's possessions has gone out of business over the phone hacking scandal, no one with any integrity has yet proven Fox to lie, unlike certain MSM outlets.

Yeah, maybe since I'm not in the targeted demographic I can't get all excited about spending tax dollars on the "general well-being" of a group of people that indulge in high risk behavior. I realize that it wasn't much money and that it was probably a better use of the money than paying Jimmy Jr's salary, but it does not fit my idea of a good use of my tax dollars. YMMV.
And, yes, Quacker, it is all about the spin. ;D

And here is the part of my post that you didn't notice. MY SPIN! What did you talk about? The facts? No, it was the spin. How much time did that Fox piece spend talking about the merits of the grant that guy got? Hmmm, maybe none? Its the fact that they could use a piece using the words "gays, tax dollars, penis and academics" in the same sentence that made it newsworthy. I actually agree with their logic , they spin for a living, as does anyone in the TV business. What amuses me is that you guys fall for it. I gave a 180 degree spin to the Fox story and you fell for it. Why? You think I'm a liberal, you reflexively defend Fox and other conservatives, and even when I tell you I'm a a libertarian, or in this case say "its all about the spin" you miss the sarcasm of my taking a liberal position I don't agree with, have told you I don't, but you still expect me to take. You miss the facts, its all the spin. Read the preceding posts. How many say I am wrong for these reasons? Answer? Zero. How many say I am just a libtard? All of them. Bottom line, you are buying the spin, not the facts. I actually hate the fact this idiot got funded with my money, but the point is, I hate Fox, who takes things out of context and gets people riled up over nothing even more. Lets talk about government spending, not cherry pick one case that Hannity is probably still bloviating about. As I just demonstrated, its easy to get folks riled up. Lets try instead to try to calm folks down and have a useful discussion. The point of this exercise isn't to cast stones, its just to be a reminder that folks see what they expect to see. They ignore warning signs, even obvious ones as in this case that things are not as they appear. This is dangerous. Situational awareness isn't just about dark alleys, its about asking "what's the rest of the story" to something you hear on the news. Just a thought.

Me too, so, when in doubt, delete.Seriously, Do not imbibe and type, :-[ my apologies for that post, it was ill thought out, but the whole responding to perception of what was said versus what was actually said is something I think we should revisit because too many lying a-holes get rich on the difference. No offense meant Tim or Itchiban.
