Jane Fonda: 'I Have Never Done Anything to Hurt My Country'
http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/jane-fonda-i-have-never-done-anything-hu
(CNSNews.com) - Actress Jane Fonda said in a statement posted on her website today that the QVC television channel cancelled an appearance they had scheduled with her today to promote her new book "Prime Time," blaming the cancellation on what she called "well funded and organized political extremist groups."
In the same statement Fonda said, "I have never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us."
In 1972, during the Vietnam War, Fonda took a two-week trip to North Vietnam, where she was photographed sitting on an antiaircraft gun that North Vietnamese forces otherwise used for shooting at American planes.
When she returned from her sojourn in Vietnam, as Time Magazine reported at the time, she accused U.S. forces of deliberately trying to bomb and destroy dikes, whose destruction could have caused the death of many civilians.
"The outcry was joined by Actress-Activist Jane Fonda," Time reported in its August 7, 1972 edition. "Returning from a two-week trip to Hanoi, where among other things she interviewed several American prisoners of war, she presented a 20-minute film of the visit at a New York press conference that purported to show several recent bomb craters in dikes near Nam Sach, 40 miles southeast of Hanoi, and further damage near the provincial capital of Nam Dinh.
"Hardly a dispassionate witness," Time continued, she said: 'I believe in my heart, profoundly, that the dikes are being bombed on purpose.' From firsthand observation and from pictures shown her by the North Vietnamese, she concluded: Not only the dikes are being bombed, but hydraulic systems, sluice gates, pumping stations and dams as well. The worst damage is done by bombs that fall on both sides of the dikes, causing deep fissures that weaken the base of the dikes.'"

What was it we used to say about our "permenant records" when we were in high school? Guess what Jane, your permenant record is permenant, it does matter, and it will come back to bite you >:(

Gotta say, its one thing to say dumb stuff and feel bad about it later. But here's the thing. Its another to "lend aid and comfort to the enemy". We all know the difference, even her, and I've yet to hear an apology. Look, I wasn't even born when this crap went down, so I don't get to say when or if she will be/can be forgiven. Still, step one would seem to be a public apology tour to every guy held in the Hanoi Hilton while she was there. If they forgive her, I will, if not, not. Oddly, that tour bus hasn't left the parking lot. ::) >:(

I remember the debate, the only reason she never went to trial was because of her Father.

There ain't even a bus there. She will never apologize cuz she doesn't think - to this day - that she did anything wrong.
I was alive at the time, and even though I was anti-war, I was appalled when the photo of her sitting in the NVN anti-aircraft seat with a NVN helmet on. This event, the burning of the ROTC building on campus, and the subsequent stoning of the fire truck sent to put the damn fire out, completely alienated me from the hard-core commie anti-war crowd. I was still naive, thought the US had no business supporting such a repressive military regime in SVN, but all of the above, and the other "antics" of the leftoids, pushed me away from active participation in the "protests" - aka engineered attacks on the US and related criminal activities.
For the record, Fonda's act of turning in the small scraps of paper with the fliers' SSN's to their NVN torturers earned Hanoi Bitch Fonda a trip to the wall in my book.

Tom, no one went to trial, other than the Chicago 7 and them because of the violence and how pissed off Mayor Daley was that they came into HIS town! Some of the more criminal elements went to trial too, but again, for things like bank robbery and bombing, not "protesting".
Fonda never went to trial, neither did Kerry nor any of the others of their ilk - lying, brainless bastards that they all are. One of the things America 2.0 will have to address is the previous gummints' refusal to seriously protect this company against all enemies - foreign or domestic.
-
I despise this woman.
-
Jane Fonda has been lying for the last 4 decades in a futile attempt to try to save her sorry ass from the embarrassment she caused herself, along with this country for her stupid antics. She is no closer to resolving her dilemma now, than she was then. She is turning into nothing more than a repulsive, lying, pathetic, old hag.
She was old enough to know better then, and too stupid to realize it now. So this is what we get. There is an old saying, "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!" She hasn't realized this yet, and most likely never will. Her own mouth was, is, and continues to be, her worst enemy. Bill T.

Jim Wilson posted this on Facebook which brings up a problem with that website. I can now add a third button to the features Facebook is missing. Besides the <dislike> and the <jealous> buttons, I now see a need for a <despise> option.

Those scraps of paper and what she did with them are the most damning acts of this traitor.
Whether the soldiers being held in The Hilton were aware of her position on the war or not, they saw her as an American who could carry their 'scrap of Hope" home where the government, and their families, would know they still lived and the government might be able to work to ensure their safe return (scant hope there). These scraps of paper were also the scraps of hope for the families of those POWs.
Rather than carry the Hopes of her fellow Americans, at least they thought she was a fellow American, home, she performed one of the most despicable acts of betrayal and treachery. She gave the scraps to their captors, crushing their hope and trust and rendering them, instead, more pain, suffering and torment.
This wasn't a protest of government police or involvement in the war, this was the personal and deliberate betrayal of those individuals who put their trust and hope in this traitor's care.
Her only possible chance of anyone acknowledging an apology of hers as sincere would be if it were delivered in a suicide note. While even that could never make amends, it might convince some that she finally faced and admitted her damnable acts and chose the only just punishment for herself.

Jane Fonda.......just one of the reasons I liked "I, Sniper". ;D

There are plenty of reasons to desire her but that urban legend isn't one of them.
I'm not saying Snopes is gospel, but...
http://www.snopes.com/military/fonda.asp (http://www.snopes.com/military/fonda.asp)
I did not serve in Vietnam but had many friends that did. Almost to a man they blame her for the deaths of soldiers. They said that some guys were so disheartened by her actions that they could not get their head into their jobs anymore and made fatal errors/mistakes because of it.
If she spontaneously combusted tomorrow it would be a day too late.
-
Isnt that crinkly old saggy titted bitch dead yet?
-
She should have been executed. She's a traitor and a liar.

I used to trust Snopes a lot more than I do now. They are hardened, flaming liberals over there. They blew it with a lot of the birther stuff on Hussein that was all but proven to be crap. They will always give a liberal a wide birth when it comes to any accusation. Plus, I've never heard Fonda deny that. I'm not saying she didn't, but I've never heard it. Bill T.

Well, looks like the "scraps of paper" incident IS an urban legend and it was not her greatest act of betrayal.
There are many links besides Snoopes that maintain this story is false, some claiming to have heard from the POWs who were named in this incident and those who actually met with Fonda at the Hilton and they said the story is phoney.
It's pretty impossible to prove you didn't do something but until I see a well documented proof of this event, I'll removed it from her list of offenses.
I guess she doesn't have to commit suicide over this either...unless she really wants to.
-
Put yourself in Fonda's position. She has been trying unsuccessfully to live this down for over 4 decades. We've all done stupid things we regret. But because we all live under the radar and are not in the public eye, it all goes away with age and time. This has tracked her like she's been carrying an electronic device. She cannot escape it. Try to imagine over the last 40+ years how many times this has come up to haunt her? At restaurants, parties, social gatherings, public appearances. Name it, and she's had it put right in her face, time and time again. She's a victim of her own popularity.
Sure, she's lived an affluent lifestyle because of her own wealth, along with the all but countless men she's been married to. But it has had to have been a living nightmare for her, as well as it should be. Had she never did this, she would be just another Hollywood actress who wasn't half bad looking in her day. Now she's forever branded, much like Casey Anthony will be. I have to admit, she's held up well. Many have committed suicide for a hell of a lot less. Money can only buy you a fancier prison to hide out in. Just ask Pablo Escobar.......If he was alive. Bill T.
-
You miss the point Bill, She is a self proclaimed communist, She actually said in an interview, (Think this through carefully ) "I get down on my knees every night and pray for America to adopt communism".
In her warped view she is the good guy and we are all evil reactionary class enemies.
She has also spent that 40 years being coddled and adored by her fellow useful fools on the left.
Pablo was just a hoodlum who excelled in his chosen field, which was not dealing cocaine, it was shaking down people who dealt cocaine, his only real contribution was not killing people who kicked up to him.

Her own political viewpoint doesn't change the way others around her think, or treat her. Just a few years ago she was refused service at a restaurant, and told to leave. I don't care what your political persuasion is, that kind of treatment isn't going to make anyone feel good. Especially when it takes place over a 40 year time span. No, her hell is right here, and she is her own devil. Hell, even Ted Turner couldn't live with her! Bill T.

I heard the restaurant story was also urban legend.
I did some searches to see if I could find it officially, but could not.
Maybe the most unbelievable part of the story is that she would stoop to dinning in an establishment that could be run by a Vet.

Ah, the annual Jane Fonda/Hanoi Jane post....Last year, here in the DRTV archives, there was a picture of her infamous sitting on the NVA's AA gun with helmet,.....
Than an American Squad, in Iraq, holding up a sign telling Jane "We saved your seat"........
I don't think she ever took them up on their offer....
Those cuts run really, really deep with folks.....and to me she's just another liberal asshat/traitor beeeyoooootttccchh, that should really go live in Europe....and get the f*** out of this country...
I think Janine Garofalo (sp) is her daughter.
-
Huge difference. Janine disagrees with you politically. Who, other than you, cares? But Fonda lent aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war, and watched American soldiers held as POWs without even asking to release one as a goodwill gesture. That's all the difference in the world. Its the difference between talking smack in a bar and a felony. Hell, I don't even think Garafolo would defend Fonda over that trip to Hanoi.

Civilian or military bashing,....she would have been branded, or at least run out of town on a rail,....in the old days,....
Maybe, one of those female racist, bigoted, homophobe minorities would have at least called her out, and smacked her...

Again Janene is just an idiot. Fonda is an unindicted criminal. I don't want to live in a country where dissent is a crime. The "leftist traitors" (and why are they any worse than "facist traitors"?) who disagree with the government talking points of the moment walk. But I also want to live in a country where if you go to an enemy nation during war time and assist them, your ass gets prosecuted. Dissenting from the Rush Limbaugh/Rachel Maddow message of the day is fine. Sitting on an anti-aircraft battery in Hanoi should get you thrown in jail.

The "Leftists" are traitors because they have spent decades subverting American values, and traditions. They are doing for communist intelligence agencies the same thing Fonda did for NVA AA gunners. Giving aid and comfort.
It is a documented fact that the CPUSA could not exist with out Soviet financial support.
The same was true of the "peace movement", and the KGB was quite proud to have usurped the word.

And why TW? I have a problem here. Fonda is a traitor, she should be in jail. I mean hell, if I were an Assistant US Attorney (having gone to law school rather than grad school) I'd have indicted her for treason, and everyone on this board knows I'd have done it and damn the political consequences. Heck, if for no other reason than to watch the pretty fireworks afterwords. ;D My reputation speaks for itself here. I mean you can accuse me of many things, but being afraid to piss folks off isn't one of them, any more than Tom is likely to be nominated for Miss Congeniality. ;)
Still, I do believe in a wide latitude for dissent. You can hate the wars. You can hate BO, Hate W, hate capitalism, hate socialism, hate niggers, hate honkeys, hate Islam, hate Christianity and hate my little dog Toto too. You can hate all of that and I'll still call you a patriot and a fellow citizen if you swear allegiance to our Constitution. But if you go overseas and do a photo op with the Taliban in Afghanistan at a compound where they are holding an American soldier I'll call you a traitor. I think that that is a pretty clear red line. Fonda crossed it, Garafolo (who I really don't like) didn't. Why does it seem blurry to you guys? Going to Hanoi made Fonda a criminal. Saying dumb stuff? Well, it just means you have discovered that the 1A protects idiots.

I really hate it when this happens, but the Quaker is right on this one. Billt, if Hanoi Jane got spat upon at every restaurant she ever went to over the last 40 years, it would not grieve me for a millisecond.
I served in VN. This biatch was responsible for the death or injury of countless of my brothers. If she were to suffer the death of a thousand cuts, I'd pay good money to see the documentary.
Dissent is one thing. Evil is something else entirely. When you foreswear allegiance to your country and give aid and comfort to the enemy, that is evil in my book.
Quaker, you called this one just right (dammit)

Not sure on that one, CR. All of the stuff about Hanoi Jane - no problem. But dissent? "Ordinary" dissent is one thing, and is protected.
But what do you do when - as Tom pointed out - the dissenters are bought and paid for by a foreign power that is specifically targeting you to work at your weaknesses and destroy you from the inside? That changes the rules somewhat, and although the burden of proof always must be on the gummint, I have no problem with some dissent being prosecuted.
In Garafalo's case, it is mostly being a typically brainless Hollyweird libtard whose sole stellar achievement is Mystery Men ( ??? ::) :P). Not worth prosecuting. But Ramsey Clark? No problem at all throwing his boney white commie ass in prison for foreign financed aiding and abetting.
PS: Here's a tip - When you find yourself agreeing with FQ, step back, take a deep breath, and understand that you are probably missing part of the story. ;D

Me neither. I'm just saying she isn't so happy about the whole thing. Look at her every time they stick a microphone in her face. She rarely has a smile on her face. Bill T.

That's because she's a" liberal".
They're always pissed about something.
Here's a fun exercise, every time you see some one who looks like they just bit a turd, ask them how they voted. Keep track, you will get more "D"'s than "R"'s. Around here it's about 3 to 1.
-
Fonda committed an act of treason. She provided aid and comfort to the enemy during a time of war. There should be no safe haven for her. It is appalling that she would even be allowed to prosper in the manner she has. I can't express the joy I felt when Mr. Smith spit on her. http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b49693_veteran_not_fonda_jane.html
There should be no place for her here.
ETA
I would see her hounded. Cast out. When she would go to rest her head, I'd have screams in the night. Now at the end of her pointless and self aggrandizing life, she seeks meaning. While she sought fame and approval from a vacuous nation and our enemies, better men and women died. I would that she be branded with the Fleur de lis so that all know her shame.
-
We have a couple hikers from Minnesota that crossed the wrong border in the middle east over a year ago, and they will not be released. Why couldn't we have had that problem with Jane?
-
Our squadron used to have a "Hanoi Jane" urinal sticker. They demolished the building, and we don't have one any more. I really miss that sticker. (By "miss", I mean "lament it's absence" rather than "fail to hit the target".) ;D
SWEET! They still make 'em!
