Title: 46% of americans still haven't learned a thing!
Post by: Badgersmilk on July 19, 2011, 08:33:16 AM
That's how many people in a CNN poll said we should just raise the national debt ceiling.   ::)

So, your credit cards are ALL maxed out...  "Better get on the phone and raise my limits!"   ::)

Fortunately, 49% said no it shouldn't be raised!  THANK GOD!!!  We're not all retarded.

I always knew the politicians lived in a completely unrealistic world, but now it appears 46% of the people standing next to you haven't woke up from the dream either.   :(

This was followed by a story on "How a couple found an image of Jesus on their Walmart receipt!"...

Starting to see why our society NEEDS to collapse?  I welcome thee Zombie!

And raising tax's is just foolish!  I don't say this because I'm afraid to pay more.  Truth is, if ANY of it went to a good purpose, I wouldn't mind.  But when you max out all your credit cards, is going to you boss demanding a raise the answer?   ::)

We've been at the top of the food chain FAR to long.  Got fat, lazy, and STUPID.  My answer is "Free Roaming Dinosaurs"!  That are 100% illegal to shoot!  Don't enforce the law.  Just advertise it EVERYWHERE.

If a Pterodactyl is eating your family and your afraid to shoot it...  Yeah, natures selection has been made.   ;D

The zombies have been here for a while, they just don't look dead, or really eat brains.
But they do vote.

They don't eat brains, they simply lack them.

Letting congress set the debt ceiling is like allowing the fox to set the combination lock on the hen house.  Duh

The 47% of this country that really PAY NO INCOME TAXES, is the same percentage that has become our Great Society: that actually think the gov't owe's them something.....

Remember the post Katrina quote?

Just go to the FEMA trailer, and go gets yo' free shi*.....

After all,....it's Obama Money,.....from his stash,.... :'(

It's not just "46% who haven't learned a thing. 90% at least are incapable of making a rational decision for the simple reason that they have exactly the same motivation as a Labrador Retriever, if they can't eat it or f*ck it, piss on it.
the vast majority, just like any other animal make their judgements based solely on self interest. EX : How to raise revenue ? Old people will almost always favor income tax while the young prefer sales taxes. Why ? because old people think income taxes will shift more of the burden onto the young while the young think that sales tax will have greater impact on older people  with more $ to spend.
Not one in a 100 gives a crap which makes sounder fiscal policy.
They already are Zombies.

People starting smoking hemp instead of making rope with it.   ;D

I'm mixed on this subject.  Both options suck, its just a matter of which sucks less.

The best solution at this point is to raise it, but only as part of a plan to get back into the black.  Not just "we will cut te spending"  but a real plan, and something they can not back out of.

I will say this. When you find yourself deeply in debt you do two things. You slash spending, you cut it to the bone. On this, we all agree. BUT..... you also raise revenue to pay the bills. You work overtime, you sell off assets, you get a second job if that's what it takes. The GOP seems unwilling to buy into part B of this plan and the Dems won't buy into part A. Its kind of ironic. Rush was right when he said you can't conserve enough oil that you don't have to drill for it, as it won't magically appear in your Priuses' tank. Thing is, the same is true of paying down the debt. Tax money is required. My money, your money. It sucks, but there it is, lets be grown ups about this and stop pretending that its not required. The key is to be very careful and make sure that the taxes do the least damage to economic growth possible.

Bottom line? We have a big ass credit card bill. Paying it down will require sacrifice. Higher taxes for fewer services, but we have an obligation to future generations to suck it up and take the hit. I have zero tolerance for either political party right now. They both want to be Santa Clause. The Dems say we can continue to support social programs. The GOP says we don't have to raise taxes. They are both full of crap. Lets be honest about it and just do what every honest American knows needs to be done, but try to put politics aside and try to do it in the smartest way possible. Right now, I don't trust anyone in DC to do that, which is pretty sad. A smaller budget and higher taxes is the only way out. There is no other option, at least according to all known laws of economics. >:( ::)

This is where you are WRONG!!!! The U.S. Citizen already carries the highest tax burden in the WORLD. The problem is how that tax revenue is spent. Wastefully. If you really want a balanced budget, first thing you need to do is eliminate waste. You do this by getting rid of redundant programs, stop research grants for studying things like how a gay males penis size affects his sex life. Then you start looking at foreign aid programs. Stop sending money to third world $h!t holes that turn around and use that money to fund terrorism against us, and our allies.
The next thing you do is start looking at congressional pay and benefits. Change the system, so that politics is no longer is appealing as a career, then you will get rid of the leeches. You will start seeing people run for office for the right reasons.  Bust up the federal workers unions. It's time that government employees start paying on the same scale that the rest of us do.
Put Social Security back in the lock box, and stop handing out benefits to illegals! Not to mention requiring drug testing for anyone receiving ANY form of welfare.

You start implementing some of these measures, and you will be able to lower taxes in this country, because when you get rid of the completely out of control waste that goes on in our government, the treasury will runneth over.

To use your analogy, lets say that you got into debt by going out to dinner and eating lobster every night. You wear a new $5,000 suit to work everyday, and you drive a Ferrari. This is lavish for a college professor. But if you start cooking for yourself, cut back to $1000 suits, and drive a Cadillac, you are still living well, but look at how much money you have been able to save from your budget. And YES this is how out of control Washington has been with our money. I probably didn't go ridiculous enough with my example.

The proper way for government to raise revenue is to adopt policies that encourage economic growth and production, not discourage it or drive it off shore.

With increased production and a booming economy, taxable income will increase and governments revenue will increase.  Then government just needs to wise up and  not waste every extra nickle they get on handouts, both inside and outside the country.

Squeezing more from the economic producers while crippling their ability to produce just doesn't get the job done.

Immediate slashing of spending on non-obligatory commitments is essential.

While you would be right with a responsibly managed budget, where you are going off the track is the fact that we, the tax payers have been picking up the slack for Congress for 50 years. Every time they come up with more revenue they piss it away instead of adjusting their spending habits. They are just like the welfare recipient that buys an X Box instead of groceries.
The whole principle of a budget is
"This is what you have, spend it in the most efficient manor you can to pay what you have to pay" there can be no extra's until the necessities are paid for"

Whole agencies need to go, Health and Human services is duplicated at the State level, CUT IT, you have the National Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management, they both do the same job, cut one, NPR shows a profit, cut out it's subsidy since it does not need it.
How many billions has that saved right there ?
The only way to make congress use our tax dollars in a responsible manner is to hold them to their allowance, the same way your parents taught you. Ran out of money in August ? Tough sh!t, you get nothing else till next April 15th. Learn to spend it wisely and you won't have this problem.
What on earth makes these stupid bastards think the National budget is any different than their child hood lunch money ? If you spend it all today you will do with out the rest of the week.
