On Facebook, as many of us have, I have requested to be friends with a wide variety of industry people, and usually enjoy seeing their posts and keeping up with their businesses. James Yaeger was one of them.
Two days ago, he posted something about the success of Tactical Response on FB, along the lines of he has surpassed last year's total class attendance (IIRC) already this year, and that his new store was going gangbusters. And then he said something like - "suck it haters!" I can't be precise about the verbiage, see below as to why.
I posted congratulations on the success, and then suggested that he may want to avoid the "haters" label, as that is usually bandied about by thoughtless libtards who can't clearly express themselves. Next thing I know, James de-friended me on FB! :'(
Disclosure: I believe I bought some of James' Tactical Response gear a while back, and if it is the gear I am thinking of, it looks like good gear. I have not taken his training, though.
For those who may not remember James, he has a series of videos on YouTube. He is also the guy whose school allowed a photographer to squat next to a target while a shooter was shooting the target inches from the photographer. He was also the guy teaching the class recently when a student shot himself in the foot in what Rob Pincus labeled "fake transition" training, i.e., transition from long gun to sidearm for no reason other than told to do it, requiring an extra motion to put the long gun on safe. The student did not do this or do it correctly. According to Rob's post, Rob's training uses "real" (my word) transitions when the long gun goes dry or malfunctions only, never the "fake transition" training.

Pretty much nuked my FB account a few weeks ago, because I was fed up with the drama that is caused. As for now, I exist on FB, and not much else. I wouldn't get too but hurt about it Path, as the guy sounds like a total douche nozzle. And as for FB, it's a drama machine, creating problems where they don't exist.

yea, I'm getting tired of the "Schmuk"erburg experiment too...
Time to leave for good I think...

It's just like guns if you think about it. It's a great tool, when used responsibly. But then you get the idiots, that ruin it for the rest of us.

The biggest reason I've bothered to stay on FB myself is the fact that I have a few old friends that I stay in contact with and it is easier for them to message me and chat on there than to do it via emails. If not for that, I would probably have ditched a while ago.

I don't use it much anymore, either. But I do love some of the comments that come from M'lette! ;)

Ditto, and the ability to organize events is great. Saves blast emailing everyone. Plus it keeps track of responses for you. Much easier to keep track of who is going on the next adventure. It's the day to day BS that has put me out. The comments from some people who stopped maturing after their sophomore year in high school, or what set me over the edge was getting nasty emails about How dare I be friends with so and so. REALLY? I thought we were adults. It scares me that these people vote.

Then there is that......I do love to give her the devil when she posts something. ;D ;D ;D

I agree with Peg on Marshalette's posts. I may be having an eat crap day, come home to check the FB, and she has posted something that makes me laugh my a$$ off and puts me in a good mood.
Also wanted to than you fellas that like my FB page. I greatly appreciate it.
I really get sick of the drama on FB. But I choose to ignore it and if someone is sending me tons of crap I will block their activity.
Sucks about people booting you off for relaying your opinions. You have to be able to accept constructive criticism and not all feedback is going to be positive.
Not sure who James Yeager is? But one thing I do know, if I were you I would not lose any sleep over it. I read the article where someone was hurt during transition training but saw nothing specific. Not good. Not good at all and could have easily been fatal.

Yeah!! It's only the internet, anyway ;D

I thought the internet was for big boobs and gun stuff? :P
It's alright Path, Homeland Security has been watching all you do on FB anyway,..... ::)

Thanks for bringing the thread back to my original
whine post!
I was actually very tongue in cheek when I wrote the OP. OK, I was torqued when I first realized what happened and why - this was after all my first de-friending ;D And I guess this is what some of you refer to as drama? But I'm all over it now. It's actually kind of funny. Any of you who see Yaeger's posts know I will not miss much, as most of his posts are about:
1. how buff he is,
2 what a badass he is
3. what a cool samurai sword he has, and
4. showing pictures of his wife in various modes of dress and undress.
I'll live, and Red is right - it is just teh Intertubes. ;)

My question is this....are you required to shave your head and grow a goatee to become a firearms instructor/jedi/ninja/SWAT/Tacticool douche bag or is it a choice?
Just curious as at 54, I have more hair than I've ever had. It's a real PITA to keep having to trim it every three or four weeks!
:D
Oh, and I just de-activated my FB account so don't take it personally. Just tired of it, again!

Face Book........................some place I've never been to and refuse to go to. I guess I don't know what I'm missing.
