Title: Another Star on Sons O' Guns
Post by: jaybet on July 29, 2011, 09:46:15 AM
Anybody notice Jerry Miculik on Sons of Guns the other night? He brought a rifle in for a little tweaking and ended up betting Will he could shoot faster than an AK on auto. Will said if he did he'd GIVE him a supressed AK.

With his tricky finger Jerry unloaded 10 rounds from an AK in 1.52 seconds. The kid with the auto did it in 1.48.  That's some cool stuff.
Jerry also did a quick demonstration of a three gun match (I think he missed one target).

My wife and I watch that show (since we can't get the Outdoor Channel) and we enjoy it ("fun with guns") but it was cool to see another celebrity in the shooting world on there.

I watched the show as well while working at the desk.  I thought that Jerry missed one also, but when they scanned back the target was down.  I've shot with and been instructed by Rob Latham, and these guys aim, fire and move on, and some of their targets are dropping three plates down the line.

Did you see the previous show on the sniper AK?  My thinking is that by the time you tighten up an AK to make it sniper quality you are going to start getting the same tight tolerance issues you get with other semi-autos like the AR.  Anyway, it makes for cool tv.

I was surprised at the end when they showed Kris singing.  He's not bad at all.  Oh yeah, seeing Jerry was cool, too.  I got to meet him at the NRA show.  He's a very nice, humble guy.

We started watching it a few episodes ago and can't wait to see what's next.

What really impresses me about that crew is they do act like a family and you tell that Will really loves what he does and takes care of them.

I was joking with the wife that I should order something from them for my Navy retirement gift to me, I just may need to push off actually retiring to pay for it.  She's all for it.

No Jerry didn't miss it, it was still falling when he went on to the next string.   BTW who thinks Kris and Steph need to hook up?  His CD is on their site and we'll probably order it to go with all the other one-of CDs in our collection.

Steph did an interview after last season and she said that she and Kris are just good friends.  I think they are more than than just friends, too.

BM, I can't comment, I don't even own a TV.
But it's "reality TV" people messing around with guns has got to be better than "Real sluts of NJ" or whatever.

On the season premier episode they connected the gas systems of 3 ARs so a trigger pull on the first one fired all 3 in series.  Looked really cool on full auto.  That's reality TV!

Loved the show featuring Jerry Miculek.  But I noticed nobody else mentioned the OTHER famous, pro-shooter Miculek who appeared in that episode, too.  If we dis Kay like that, Red and M'ette will have our heads on a stick on behalf of the entire female gender.  ;D

Excellent example of what each episode I've tried to sit through was like (won't try again).  "What horrible half a$$ things can we hack together for mall ninja's this week?"

The girl is cute.  Beyond that...    ::)

Hey "guys", my daughter was wondering.  When's the next teenage vampire in love movie coming out?   ;D ;D ;D

Sorry.  Carry on.  ;D

Easy for you to say, Casket Boy.  Teresa and Kathy are Facebook friends.  She could have me whacked without raising a finger herself.

I don't know how gay it is...hell, some of the instructional shows seem awful musky.  I'm just happy to be able to turn on my tv and see somebody throwing rounds.

How did you feel about the chrome gun with handle bars and a painted dragon?

I'd bring up the estrogen overload when Paul Jr. showed up.  Didn't matter that his wife was following on the scooter.  For a minute I thought M'ette had finally made it on tv, and then I realized she wasn't blond.

I can enjoy the show for what it is, another Discovery moneymaker.  Some of it is enjoyable but I'd wish they put more emphasis on what it takes to do the smithing than other stuff.

I've had about enough of the Tuttle boys though.  Do you really think Mikey rode that scooter all the way from Orange County, NY?  I don't think so....trailer all of them southwest, park the trailer down the block and scoot on in like Dennis and Peter from Easy Rider....

Anyone ever ride a hard tail?  I have and it ain't fun!

I was watching one of the biker build offs on the tube a few years ago and Billy "whoever", bike builder was riding his build in the rain at about 80 mph when he hit a two or three inch expansion joint on the freeway.  It damn near tossed him over the handlebars.

Choppers look nice, sound nice, go fast, stop well (if done properly) but they ride like crap, turn for crap, handle for crap and can be pretty nasty in the hands of the wrong dumb ass!

I have kidney stones disease Peg, blood in my urine is something I dread!

I think it was Billy Lane from Melbourne, Fl.

**As to the kidney stones, have you ever took Alopurinol (gout medicine)? It also works well at preventing stones.

Yea, it's was Lane I think...

No but I haven't had an attack in four years now.  It was getting to be a yearly visit for the lithotripsy procedure!

I know we've been bitch slapped on this thread already, but I have reached the age that medical conditions enter every conversation.

My last hospital visit for kidney stone, I grow the stag horn variety, I received the best advice ever, and it has worked for nearly 13 years!  One of my nurses looked at my chart and saw kidney stones and gall bladder.  She then said that she had had kidney stones, gallbladder attacks and a child.  Then she stated that kidney stones were the worst.  Her advice - "If there is any color to your urine you are not drinking enough water."  Ever since I stay on top of the water.

My stones are a gout thing, and I have learned that if I want to eat steak, or any other beef or tuna, I can counter act and avoid the following pain by flushing my system with plenty of water for a couple days.

Seeing as how we've completely hi-jacked this thread  ;) ...... kidney stones have run in my family for several generations. My doc told me the main reason I have not had any problems (knock on wood) is the fact that I've been on Alopurinol for gout (and lots of water helps too). The alopurinol kills two birds with one shot for me.......... If the SHTF and lasts long enough for me to run out of the stuff, looters beware because I will be one irritated SOB without it.......... I won't be very mobile, but I will be ill-tempered.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

OBTW, I like the Sons of Guns show.   :D

Screw Sons O'Guns, let's talk old fart diseases!!!!  ;D

I take allopurinol (I too am prone to gout) AND furosimide aka Lasix, the crap they used to give race horses to pee themselves dry right before a race. The only time my pee is any color is first thing in the morning, otherwise with all of the fluids I drink it is damn near clear! I drink tons of lemonade (homemade with lemon juice and filtered water) and some dark colas first thing for caffeine. No stones (gall bladder got removed already) but for the first few hours after I take furosimide, I cannot venture too far from a bathroom. Got me off jury duty though . . . . .  :o

Most everything else still works though...

OK...OK...ENOUGH WITH THE KIDNEYS.  LET'S TALK NEUROPATHY AND MACULAR DEGENERATION.

Well, actually no.  Let us talk about how many people are being mainstreamed in their thinking by Sons Of Guns .

I think that the show is doing a lot of good with non-shooters and "part time" shooters who had no idea supressors and machine guns are legally out there as wells as it is fun to shoot AK's and AR's and it doesn't make you weird.

I did record the Son's of Guns due to Jerry Miculak being on there. But I have to admit, I think Son's of Guns blows!!! I tried to watch a few episodes a couple of weeks ago.

Let's build something cool.
Trial and Error.
Let's present it and there is a problem. Drama
Oh gee, it works once again.
Boring.

They do create some really neat firearms and are very talented. Just cut the BS drama.

Just my two bits guys and gals.

I suspect the reason they don't are twofold.  First, if there are liability issues.  If somebody figures out how to make something full-auto by watching the show, they stand a VERY good chance of having one of those anal exams the BATFE is known for.  And if somebody tries to duplicate something they see and it fails causing injury, they'll get sued from here to the end of time.

Second, if you came up with a cool product that you could sell to make money, would YOU disclose how you did it on national TV?

I seriously doubt that Junior has ever ridden a bike more than about 30 miles at any one time in his life.  Senior, yeah. Junior, no.  That being said, I DO approve of Junior's choice in wives.  Still trying to figure out why she married such a narcissistic little prima donna, however.

It also isn't good TV to show all the work that really goes into building a weapon, or any of the other projects on similar shows.  Hours and hours of grinding and fitting isn't that exciting to the average TV viewer.  They wouldn't understand the technical aspects of it anyway.  That's why all the drama, it's good TV.

10-4.  There used to be something called GunTech on the Outdoor Channel that went into light detail...gone now.

How many here have used the uTube libraries which do show detail on gun mechanics.  A few hard core I would think and not many more I suspect.

I think it is good that this show has widespread appeal and will either mainstream people into the gunculture or make others "desensitized" to the BS that comes from ilk like Handgun Inc, Liberals, etc.

You know, a lot of people do not or did not want to bring up gun issues to the masses so that they could remain "hidden" to escape scrutiny and that was going to save whatever...hunting, machine guns, supressors, mags with more than 10 rounds, etc.  So, we let the antis set the agenda and they did well for a while.  I know hiding is the wrong way to go so I say more power to Sons Of Guns and anything else that mainstreams the gun culture.

C'mon, if all someone who does not know guns comes from MSLSD, CBS, The Democratic Party, RINO Republicans, Handgun, Inc. or even "Wise Latino Women" how will they know what is true and a what is a lie?  A lot of people, some hunters included, still think if you shoot someone in the pinkey with a 45 that it's either going to throw them aback 15 feet spinning their corpse like a top or rip their arm off and kill them instantly that way.  Any show that has guns and gun accessories in a positive light is a good show.  I still have people authoritatively tell me supressors are as illegal as hell even though I show them the paperwork on mine....bad information learned young and reinforced by other uninformed peers is hard to break.  Better to have good information out there, especially from someone that lives in Watson, La., in the free state of Livingston Parish.

Can't wait to see Top Gun.  I know one of the contestants because I've seen him on the promos but....he won't say a dang thing about it and will not even admit he was on it.  You talk to him and he doesn't even know what Top Gun is....I suppose he has some paperwork binding him....  I'll be pulling for Chris Collines even though it's all ready over I'm sure...

He actually mentioned that in one episode....as he was instructing the camera crew that they couldn't film the next step he was about to perform on a full auto weapon....citing liability issues and something along the lines of redneck engineers.  ;D
