Post by: BCSxyz on August 01, 2011, 05:53:44 PM
Looking for a list of new compact 1911 45 acp "series 70" or with no "swartz" safety other than Wilson Combat.

A couple that jump to mind are Dan Wesson and the S&W "E" series.

You can put a "frame slot blank" in any series 80 to make it into a series 70 and it's only $5. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=13121/Product/1911_AUTO_FRAME_SLOT_BLANK#

Kimber makes a few and any Kimber can be ordered in that configuration from the custom shop. Colt has some re-issue series 70's as well. I have a friend who just bought a re-issue series 70 LW commander. The Colt Clapp Commander is also a series 70 configuration. Like others have said above though, Brownells and others sell the little piece to fill in the gap so you can just remove it. There is some liability issue there if you're using it as a self defense / carry pistol but not as bad as disabling or removing other safety devices since it can be shown they are readily made, and still being made, in both configurations. This makes it more in the area of a personal preference rather than just a safety device.
