OK fellas I am after a little help I am trying to find a plug for the brake on my 460 see below for pic of what I mean
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v508/500magnumnut/comp.jpg)
The brakes are fine and dandy for reducing felt recoil however they make the gun a fair bit noisy and are PIA to clean,
Now I know that S&W made them as aftermarket parts but they seemed to have stop making them now, so what I am after is if someone spies one for a 460 to let me know, if its not too dear then buy it and let me know and I will send the dollars over to cover + postage to me and a small tip as a thank you.
Does any one here have a 460 or a 500 and use one of these plug by chance?

WOW, I thought Numrich had everything. :( Not that!
S&W calls it a "compensator" not a muzzle break. And it's an "X frame" gun. If it helps someone else find it. :-\
Edit: They actually call what he wants an "End cap", or a "Blank End Cap".

I haven't followed the 460 very close at all, but the first 500's came with both. I don't know when they quit or why. My 500 is a Performance Center, and the compensator is also a tension nut for the barrel.
I don't know why anyone would want to shoot an X frame without a compensator!

Recoil doesnt worry me so much after all its a fairly heavy gun in any case, but as I mentioned it will reduce the noise some what and cleaning the "compensator" really sux ass.
I just cleaned mine all up tonight and wacked on a weigand mount and a weaver 2.5x8 power scope on it to see how it copes. Will be interesting to see if it handles the recoil ok, only using 2 rings to secure it atm, I am thinking I probably should have used 3 or 4.

This will sound a bit strange sledge, but you might look for an airgun scope. Believe it or not, spring piston airguns are murder on scopes, more so than center fire fire arms, its in the nature of the recoil. If you find something that's airgun rated it should stand up to your .460. As to the end cap, I did a quick look and found nada. Consider it a good excuse to come over and cruise a few gun shows. Maybe SHOT in Vegas? ;D

We have some beers made or sold here that might hold their own. Probably just not available in the dives you are used to patronizing ;D ;D ;D

I'm surprised that you have a hard time cleaning! My 500 comp cleans easy. My open gun has a bugger of a comp to clean, but that is more in the closed channels designed into it.
On the 500 I just use a .22 brass brush for each of the holes, and it is a breeze.

I think there is a spray available that you spray on when it is clean before shooting. It is suppose to help prevent buildup and make it easier to clean. Can't remember what it is called, but I think I saw it for sale once from Midway. i don't have time to look for it right now to get the product name, but I think it was kinda of pinkish color and came in a pump bottle.
