The people of Libya have been living (barely) under a horrible dictator and finally have taken back their country with the help of well formed militias (and some not so well formed) with new access to firearms. Their dictator would not allow firearm ownership, even for members of the military or the police. Now they are talking about having everyone turn their guns back in now that the struggle os over.
Our revlolution (circa 1776) was successful and remains successful due to the citizens being able to fight back against the Government. I hope people take notice of what happened and give responsible gun ownership credit for the good it can do and the evil it can conquer. Libya was an interesting reminder of the role firearms play in the preservation of the balance of power and the safegaurd they provide in maintaining a civilzed society for not only today, but the peace they can preserve for centuries.
Just something to think about.

NATO keeps bombing pro-Kadafi forces in Libya
It sounds really good as far as it goes, although it ignores 2 important facts,
The Libyan civilian Militias were organized by the Muslim Brotherhood who have been committing murder and other acts of terrorism against the West and moderate Arabs for about a century.
And secondly, the massive NATO bombing campaign.

Tom, All great points, don't disagree with anything said. Just wanted to make the general point of why we all fight for the RKBAs and Libya was an example of what can happen when the people of a nation are stripped of the power to protect themselves from a corrupt Government and what it takes (with a little help from my friends) to gain/regain freedom.

Hmmmm.....Sounds like the Brady Bunch and BHO....
But, if more Syrian civilians were given the right to bear arms,....perhaps the slaughter would not be so one sided.

I'm glad you posted that, it gives me the chance to underline the fact that I absolutely agree with the point you were making.
I just think it is important to remember that these people are not our friends.
