I need some help looking for a light to mount on my AR, mounting options,price, and pics would be very helpful. Thanx

So many prices, styles, lumens, laser options with light....From a lumen point of view, 120-150 +, is a blinding disorienting light (for the BG) at close distances. The spread or focus of the light is dependent on which app. your wanting it to do.
Light up an entire two car garage? Or a more blinding focused narrow beam?
Help us out....For example.. Size and function.
I can give you some sample criteria:

- Must be reliable.
- As simple of a user interface as possible for the feature set required.
- Single mode operation preferred (i.e., just maximum light). If multimode (e.g., Low, High, Strobe), maximum light must be available at the touch of a switch (i.e., instantly accessible).
- Must allow for one-handed weapon operation, i.e., the light must have a constant-on capability.
- Operating the light doesn't change the way I carry, hold, and mount the rifle.
- Absolute minimum light output of the original SureFire 6P, preferably a lot more. I have zero reservations in using 200+ lumens lamps for indoor or outdoor work.
- Beam pattern balances throw and flood. IMO, the SureFire SRTH and KT4 TurboHeads have an excellent beam pattern -- bright hot spot and huge spill.
- Minimum 30 minute run time. Ability to use 123A primaries or Li-ions (16340 or 17670; 18650 optional).
Envisioned application is urban personal defense -- indoor and outdoor. Being urban, engagement ranges are probably within 50 yds, and most likely closer.

Hope it helps, but it's a very broad question with a bunch of answers. One can go from $30-$800. :o

In addition to TW's list I would add an OFF switch.
I had a StreamLight TLR1 on my AR and it worked fine - - right up until I touched it accidently and lit myself up like a spotlighted Broadway performer.
A green laser from SIG that they had on sale a while back is the only addition so far besides the EOTech.

I posted a while back about the fact I got up in the middle of the night to see how bright was not bright enough. My suggestion is to use one that has a large range of adjustment. I use a fenix TA21. when i did my little test I found that too bright, killed my night vision instantly. I think every-one should consider this. One quick flash on a light colored wall and you could be just as stunned as the BG.

I had a Surefire Scoutlight mounted on my AR. Good bright light and was extremely durable. A bit pricey, but it was a great general purpose light made for a railed AR style rifle. I'm also a big fan of EOTECH. I know there are some lighter, cheaper versions of the scout light. You can also SHUT IT OFF easily.

Looking for something like a scout mount but i don't want to add to much weight. Price between $200 and $300. I do like the standard on off switch but with momentary on off also. Lasers are a big maybe, but I'm not familiar with strobe use. Lumens wise something around 100 to 150 with an adjustable beam.

The new model they have which is basically a mini scout light would be right up that alley and it doesn't weight much.
