OK, gotta vent... I went to the local Bass Pro this afternoon, i had some time between some family functions and thought I could squeeze in sighting in the new red-dot I just put on my AR. Much to my surprise, they will only let you use the rifle tube to sight in a AR if it has a "regular scope" on it. :o
Needless to say... I was p__sed!!

Was that the one in Grapevine? >:(

Yup!

That'll ruin a perfectly good venting exercise. I just use the .22 conversion for my Bushmaster shorty carbine. The range don't mind that. It's also deadly accurate. :o

I'm not very familier with ARs and red dot sights but why would the rules be different for a red dot mounted AR? It sounds ridiculous.

They may be worried about a reputation developing (via the media of course) if a guy sights in his "evil black rifle" with its "evil red dot scope" at their range and he goes out on a shooting spree in a mall. Guess they feel the AR is not sporting gun like a bolt action or a 28" barrel shotgun.
