Shane (SwoopSJ on here) is back in the hospital, according to a post on FB by his mom last night. She said he is in one hospital (for the last 3 weeks) in very bad condition and desperately needs to be transferred to another, but they don't have an available room at the moment.
If you all remember, he had a lot of problems last year with a serious infection in his abdomen and has been fighting it off and on for a while.
His mom asked for prayers and I thought I would pass along the request on here since I believe we all think highly of the young man.
-
On it, Peg...
Let his mom know we are in it.
-
DAMN! Will do.

Done

Ditto -
These infectious bugs are getting nasty!
-
Yep.
I went back and checked, and he's been fighting this thing since spring of 2010.
-
Maybe we can get a room number and get some cards heading his way.
Let him know we need him to hang in there and get back here and pick up the slack....
-
His mom posted that he was in Cornerstone Hospital and the closest by that name is in Huntington WV. It is an acute care facility. She is hoping that he can get transferred to Kingsbrook Lifecare Hospital in Ashland, KY.
I put a message out to Shane's mom for the correct address and room.

God Bless Shane in his recovery!
Tim and Sue...

Done.
Hope they get him moved to Ashland. Shane and I talked and I used to live across the Ohio River in Ironton, Ohio many moons ago. Huntington would be a jog cause it is 17 (or 30) miles down the road one way if I remember correctly? Always seemed like a long haul on Route US52.

(and thanks for posting BAC!)
Prayers continuing.

I'm still kickin'!!! :) Sorry, I've taken so long to respond, but I really appreciate the cards, well wishes, and especially the prayers. I'm still in the hospital, but, all thanks to God, I'm improving rapidly. A few close calls, every now and then, just keeps life interesting, I suppose. Once again, thank you all very much, it's comforting to know that there are WONDERFUL people out there that actually care about someone they've never even met. God bless you all.

Got another update message from Shane's mom:
Just wanted to let u know that Shane was able to stand today. Sounds small, but was a big victory for him. He is still in the hospital. God is doing great things, just continue to pray for him.
-
That's good news and the more he moves the faster he'll heal up. Peg and I both understand what it feels like to sit flat on your back for two or three months and the first steps (or step for Chuck) are the most terrifying and most glorious at the same time.
God Speed Shane!
-
Great news!
Peg,
Let him know we are here thinking and praying for him.
-
Thanks for the update Peg!
Thoughts and prayers your way Shane.
-
"Good" and "Great" news don't come close. I believe "FANTASTIC" is more like it.
God Bless,
Richard

Oh Shane......
The world need folks with your spirit. We all are lessened by this loss.
With much sadness, Rest In Peace, Shane.
From Shane's signature...a belief we all hold and promote.

Swoop, I will miss you my friend.
My prayers to his Family and friends. We have lost a good soul and though we are poorer for the loss we are richer for having known him.
On a personal note, 2011 SUCKS!

Here is the post from Shane's mother:
Just wanted to let all of Shane's friends know that he passed away this evening. Please pray for our family. Shane I love u with all my heart. I know that u are dancing on streets of gold. Love u Mom
I never met Shane, but I am deeply saddened by his passing. Too, too young. Damn!
-
very sorry to hear :'(
-
I have been in contact with Shane's mom over the past few months and was deeply saddened to log on and check messages this AM an find out about Shane's passing. He was an above-average young man in this current generation of "what-can-the-world-do-for-me" types.
He will be missed.
God Bless, and rest in peace, Shane.

I really don't know what to say. I was just thinking of him. My thoughts and prayers for all.
-
After his last posting and Mom's previous update, I was praying for his recovery.
It seems God has called him home for reasons I cannot explain or understand. The interaction on DRTV with Swoop was a pleasure, and he will not be forgotten.
:'(
RIP Shane.
