Title: NC, Dem. Gov. Perdue "Let's Suspend The Next Elections" To Get Things Done
Post by: twyacht on September 27, 2011, 04:53:19 PM
I am now officially ashamed to have lived 20 years in such a State. The academics, transplants from New England, and Liberal bastions that make up the urban, metropolitan areas elected this disgrace.

If she ever went to rural NC, she would be tar & feathered, from the REAL TARHEELS!!!!

Is this impeachable? The comments seem to suggest, that if they take away the voting box,....there is always the ammo box,....

This is why we have the 2nd Amendment.

http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/09/27/dem-governor-hey-lets-suspend-congressional-elections-for-two-years/

Speaking to a Cary rotary club today, N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue suggested suspending Congressional elections for two years so that Congress can focus on economic recovery and not the next election.

“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that,” Perdue said. “You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”

The comment — which came during a discussion of the economy — perked more than a few ears. It’s unclear whether Perdue, a Democrat, is serious — but her tone was level and she asked others to support her on the idea.

Read her full remarks below.

“You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that. The one good thing about Raleigh is that for so many years we worked across party lines. I call BS on that.

It’s a little bit more contentious now but it’s not impossible to try to do what’s right in this state. You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”

****

Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Asheville, Winston-Salem, Cary, Charlotte (where the DNC is holding its Nat. Convention), are liberal strongholds.

I can't be too sure on either count.  Maybe she's just one of the first who have been orchestrated to plant this idea.   "Elections bad"  "elections bad".  I'm not so sure many of the sheeple and MSM wouldn't buy into this.   It's where some have been convinced the current administration has been heading anyway.   "We need more time to solve the problems."

I think we should all keep our eyes and ears open on this issue.  See how many more times it pops up in the next couple of months.

If she's a dem, yes, she can be that stupid.
My former congress person asked for an aisle seat , so the breeze from the window would not mess up her hair.
She was getting on a freaking plane.

There is a large(er) growing number of like minded folks, that are starting to believe this is by design..

Always remember the founding BHO team leader Darth Rahm's quote: "Never let a crises go to waste."

Since "Bev" has NO real comprehension or what her remark truly implied,.....(Like Debbie Wasserman Schultz), just follows orders blindly,....when the SHTF, when BHO considers a National Crises worthy of Martial Law, or even something along the lines of the "Chicago Way",....for the "Nation & Our Children"...

We better remember our Jefferson.

"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." --Thomas Jefferson

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
President Thomas Jefferson

Actually I agree with her.

But instead of letting the ones who's term expire just keep on screwing up, leave their seats empty.

I know it's not a complete fix to our problems with government, but it's a good start  :D :D

True, funny thing is, I can't remember anyone ever doing that.  Granted I'm not as old as some, but I bet they can't either.

If you've never had ice cream you can't miss it, eh?  True statement.  This is the issue that many of us try to portray...what it can be because of what it was like.  Which, by the way Tab, is why some of your statments drive the old folks crazy.  It's hard for you to believe if all you've ever seen was graft, lying and corruption in public officials.  Who do you believe?  What do you believe?

If a generation is lost......

There have been some good ones.
Like Barry Goldwater. He is depicted as being a "Right Wing nut" but time has proven that he saw this future and it mad him sick.

I have to insert these quotes from the article because there's quite a bit that I not only agree with, but is backed by the historical record. (Highlighted portions are ones I agree with )

Quote from Peter Orszag
In an 1814 letter to John Taylor, John Adams wrote that “there never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” That may read today like an overstatement, but it is certainly true that our democracy finds itself facing a deep challenge: During my recent stint in the Obama administration as director of the Office of Management and Budget, it was clear to me that the country’s political polarization was growing worse—harming Washington’s ability to do the basic, necessary work of governing. If you need confirmation of this, look no further than the recent debt-limit debacle, which clearly showed that we are becoming two nations governed by a single Congress—and that paralyzing gridlock is the result.

So what to do? To solve the serious problems facing our country, we need to minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions. In other words, radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic.

America was never intended to be a "democracy". Democracy is nothing more than mob rule where who ever screams the loudest can override the best most well reasoned of minorities.
That was the reason for the property requirement for voting, those who had a vote had a vested interest in seeing govt run in the most efficient, and prosperity enhancing manner possible. Meanwhile those who had nothing but a hand out where denied the opportunity to loot the public treasury for "bread and circuses".
