JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- Several Sheriff’s departments in Ohio are investigating members of the Amish community near Bergholz in Jefferson County after several unusual incidents of forcible hair and beard cutting.
Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said there have been several reported incidents of Amish forcing their way into homes and cutting the hair and beards off of other members of the Amish community.
The first incident started on Sept. 6 when Abdalla said six men and six women went to Trumbull County, broke into an elderly couple’s home, knocked both of them to the ground and cut off their hair and the man’s beard.
Then just a week ago, Abdalla said an Amish man came into Jefferson County to visit his sister. Abdalla said the sister’s husband took the man into a wooded area and cut off his beard.
On Tuesday night, Abdalla said several Amish burst into a home in Holmes County and went after five people inside. Abdalla called the group, "thugs."
“All lost their hair, had their beards cut, and what upsets me about that is a 13-year-old girl was put on the floor and had her hair cut off, and there were other little children in the home that witnessed all of this,” said Abdalla.
Abdalla said right after the Holmes County incident, some of the same people who burst into that home also went into Carroll County and pulled a man from his home to cut his beard off.
Abdalla said that what is so frustrating is that he can’t do anything unless these victims come forward and file charges. He said he believes there is a chance that the people behind these attacks are following orders.
Abdalla said unless these people are stopped, he believes someone is going to get seriously hurt.

Usually hair cutting like that is a punishment, like the French women who slept with German soldiers getting their heads shaved.
Perhaps the victims have been less than sufficiently orthodox.

As I posted before, Ezekiel, Jacob,Jedediah and Ishmael, have been very, very, bad.....
Amish crime spree? ???
The world is truly coming to an end,....

Sure sounds like a theological feud to me....
Radical out of control flash mobs of Amish folks perpetrating home invasions and personal attacks.....
It's obvious the Amish community needs to rethink their non-violence position and arm the community with with Wiffle Ball Bats

News just in:
Police in JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio announced they are close to catching the offenders as they have discovered new material evidence in the case. As soon as they can identify whose pudding bowl that was left at the scene and used to cut the victims hair they expect to solve the case.

4 Amish Men Charged In Bizarre Attacks
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Four Amish men have been arrested, charged in one of four bizarre attacks on other Amish people.
The attackers barge into homes and use scissors to cut the beards and hair of the victims.
Investigators believe members of the “Bergholz Clan,” which has been described as a group of religious castoffs, are responsible.

From the report
Apparently, the motive was to punish people who had weak faith, and the attackers would take back hair to prove they had carried out the assaults.
Really strange behavior for Amish. While they are all extremely committed to their faith, they could hardly be described as Religious Fanatics....this group seems to be an exception.
Better than the Muslim counterpart. They would have taken back heads.

Is it just me or does the guy in the upper right of the mug shots from tw look like the dwarf from Narnia?

I notice there's no height requirment for being Amish. Look at those guys again.

I noticed that too and had to wonder about it.
My first thought was that was it possible that limiting your technology to 100 years ago or older might, some how, limit your average height to the average of that long ago?
My next bit of reasoning is the more probable cause. Since their "eligible mate" pool is pretty much limited to those of the same religion and the religion doesn't have many new converts, they are all drawn from the same basic gene pool that has belonged to the Amish since they were founded, and it looks like most of that is 5'3" or so.

That's my thinking as well. The smaller the community the more possibility or acceptance of marrying a first or second cousin.
