I picked up this pair at a local shop here in town that carries some nice stuff. I've had my eye out for a Long Slide Springfield for some time, and Scottsdale Gun Club has them on their web site, but almost never in stock. Springfield doesn't produce a lot of them, and they tend to go fast when they come in.

This gun points beautifully, and the fit and finish is superb. The gun has a nice thick, bull barrel on it which is considerably thicker than other models. It also comes with a ambi safety, and nice adjustable target sights. He had just gotten the Range Officer Model in, and it was the first one I'd ever seen. I had read a few write ups about it, and the gun has been very well received. Anyway we got to haggling, and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse, so both left with me.

I think Springfield makes some of the nicest 1911's out there, and these 2 are really nice. I'll get both of them cranked up later this week. I still got to get to the range with the 2 Mini 14's. Most likely that will be tomorrow.

PS: Given the finish on the long slide, you may want to replace your signature. Just saying . . . . .  ;)

I belong to the Phoenix Rod & Gun Club. They are open to members 7 days a week. It's nice during the week because a lot of the time I wind up having the place to myself. Especially if I go early in the morning.

I see....way too far of a drive for me.
107th ave & Deer Valley = Shooters World or wait till Wed. for Ben Avery to open.

'Course there is always the desert but that is getting to be a PITA due to the f&#@&king BLM/Forest Service closures.

The new Shooters World just opened at 91st. & Cactus, just off the 101 at Grand. That isn't too bad of a drive for you. They allow shotguns and rifles up to .300 Win. Mag. Only 25 yards though.

Please have Mel give us a Fall pic of the new "shootin irons",....and range report...

Good find on the long slide.

I've dropped a bunch of empties on their floor already this summer. 15 minutes from the driveway.  :)
Now that it's cooled off, I finally feel like shooting outdoors!

It's about the same distance for me. That is the only indoor range I'll shoot at. It's so much better there than the one on 27th & Indian School. Better staff and clientele.
