Post by: tombogan03884 on March 26, 2008, 02:43:37 AM
A freind of mine won an NRA Edition model 637 in .38 but the key lock over the cylynder release does not work. The hammer does not budge, I tryed it as well WHILE reading directly from the instructions, 1/4 turn left the little "locked " flag comes up 1/4 right ,flag goes down, hammer still locked. any suggestions before he sends it back ? >:( e's not real happy with Smith at the moment.

Check around for a S&W warrenty repair smith around your area.  If it is not too far, take it to him/her.  LOL!!!!!!

Personally I would take it to my regular smith and have him REMOVE that idiot safety.

Thanks for the In put. The NRA rep who supplied it is going to see what he can do about making it right. Thanks again.

Found out the problem, When the pistol was assembled a peice of the wood from the grip was forced into the lock jamming it. The dealer (a gunsmith) cleaned it out and S&W is sending a new set of grips ;D
