The Easy Way,...

or

The Hard Way,...

Andrew Rule reports from yesterday’s de-Occupation of Melbourne:

The Battle of City Square wasn’t quite over but the result was never in doubt when a quiet policeman dropped a comment that said it all.

“Now they know we mean it,” he mused, munching a sandwich after hours of riding herd on the rag-tag coalition of protesters camped in the square.

    “No more Christine Nixon stuff.”

For which we are deeply grateful. Highlights from the big hippie toss:  ;D

Interesting that the Police are in standard utilities and ball caps.  I bet the NYPD (or whoever) will be in full riot gear when taking out the trash.  It also kind of looked like there more cops (and onlookers) than "protesters."

The Atomic Wedgie Squad..

Are you sure that's a wedgie the protester is getting? I mean, that cop at the far left does seem to be enjoying himself, and does look just a trifle fey, if you get my meaning . . . ..   :o   ::)

Ah, well, all for Queen and Country, right, Mates? ? ? ? ? ?

Where are the Aussie cops sidearms?  Don't they carry a gun down there?

Might be that when working a 'non-violent' crowd control assignment where they are going to be in close contact with the perps, they might stash their weapons so retention is not a consideration.  If this is the case, I'd bet there are backups not involved in the up-close-and-personal work who are armed.

Spot on. If I were to wade into a crowd and be grabbing folks I'd prefer NOT to be wearing a side arm, as the odds of it getting taken away are greater than the odds of me being able to draw and use it. You rely on your buddies outside the "scrum" to do that for you.

This is starting to get out of hand in this country as well. In Oakland, California yesterday, these idiots stormed into a Chase bank, disrupting business, chasing out the customers, and started throwing things around. Personally, I think it's time for the cops to start cracking some skulls. It will give the ACLU something else to waste their time with, providing "defense" to these worthless, dirt bags in their endless attempt to see who can act more stupidly.

They might want to do their homework as the "1%" is NOT made up of just Wall Street traders and such.  In order to become part of the 1%, you only need to earn about 350K annually!

The 1% are doctors, lawyers, traders, executives, pro ball players, etc.....quite a mixed bag of folks that are for the most part normal people who happen to earn a shitload of money!

When did it become illegal to earn a very good living in this country or other countries?

I would add the USSR to the list, but they went bankrupt and no longer exist.

Wouldn't the former Soviet Union, along with most communistic countries that have the kind of government these idiots want, have cracked their skulls open weeks ago?

Not only would they have cracked their skulls open, but they would have been sent to the gulags, never to be seen again. One thing that these idiots don't understand when they say they want socialism, is that socialist regimes do not tolerate dissent.

Tienanmen Square is one of the "glories of Socialism" these idiots tend to overlook.
Seeing them reminded of it is one of the few laughs we would have if they get their way.

That was exactly what I was thinking of, but the libs always twist it to be a show of democracy. They conveniently forget that nearly a thousand protesters were slaughtered in the square during that event. To this day no one knows if the "Tank Man" is alive. My guess is not.

I ran across mention somewhere that "Tank man" was picked up by the security forces who spent quite a bit of time interrogating him to find out why he would do such a stupid thing.
Then they billed his family for a bullet.

Hey our government has already proven that they will kill an American Citizen without a trial. Of course they will leave the OWS crowd alone, since they are serving the agenda of the regime.

This has always been the biggest problem with socialists. They think everyone in the country is as poor, lazy, and stupid as they are. If someone else has more, they "got lucky", or else got some break they don't "qualify for". I've listened to little kids who got caught doing dumb things make better excuses for themselves.

This will all benefit capitalism in the long run. Especially if the democrats keep aligning themselves with these idiots. Who the hell wants to be part of a society that lives out of dumpsters and $h!ts in the street? With the cold weather coming to much of the nation, along with people's patience running out, these clowns are on borrowed time. Watching the class clown got old after a while, these idiots will fair no better.

I've been to Tienanmen Square, and it kind of made me nervous.  I don't think I've seen as large of a concentration of security cameras in my life.  Soldiers and security everywhere as well as the only 2 guns (I'm assuming they were in the closed top holsters) I saw over there.

China can shut down a protest very effeciently.  It even shuts down foreign access to Tibet for much of the summer.

Do Aussie cops carry sidearms?  The Brits (or Chinese for that matter) don't.

Just as a sidenote.  That grey in the sky is smog.

The city of Chengdu, way to the west in China, and from which the US launched its first incendiary attacks against Japanese positions in China in WWII, is in the heart of the industrialization movement in China today. One of my clients has an office there, and inside the building, inside the data center, the room with the servers and routers, the industrial dust collects quickly. The air smells bad too, and your clothes, even those not worn while there, have to all be laundered upon your return. So yeah, lovely air quality.

Yes, primarily Glock 17s, at least the Tazmainia Police did.  Didn't hang out with the guys in Western Oz as much.

Speaking of which, how come our "International Brigade " has not weighed in on this ?
I would have thought Phil and Sledge would have something to add.

yep
Glock 22's  form what I recall( well I know NSW doses )  here in SA we have S&W M&P's and Vic is also going M&P's

I know here in SA the Under cover and plain clothed coppers have the smaller M&P  for concealment

I have to ask next time I am chatting with a officer however I have noticed when in crowd control area's I noticed that they don't have there firearms on them  there are armed police about further back however the front line ones don't

I noticed that when I was also at the Show and other places where there are lots of families about and crowds
must be so incase something breaks out they don't have the it takes and they would be out numbered big time
