5 NYPD Officers Arrested in Gun Smuggling Sting

NEW YORK –  Authorities say five New York City police officers are among 12 people arrested in a gun smuggling sting operation.

Two law enforcement officials described the case to The Associated Press on Tuesday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the charges have not officially been made public yet.

They say those arrested also include three former NYPD officers, a correction officer from New Jersey and three civilians.

They're accused of involvement in a ring that was trying to traffic automatic rifles, handguns, stolen cigarettes and slot machines.

Authorities were expected to discuss the case further at a news conference at the U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan.

Obviously the problem lies with gun shows in Ohio and the  "Cigarette Loophole".

The fine mayor is also forming a coalition of mayors to be called   "Mayors Against Illegal Slot Machines" to facilitate placing the blame for their problems on other locals.

Stolen Cigarettes and slot machines? Yikes. Could get more stero typical. Why do I picture Joe Pecsi right now? ;D
