Sheriff Chuck Wright Doesn’t Hold Back

-- The Spartanburg County Sheriff is known for speaking his mind, and at a news conference on Monday, he didn't hold back his anger and frustration after a woman was attacked in a park over the weekend.

Sheriff Chuck Wright opened his news conference by saying, "Our form of justice is not making it," and he said, "I'm really aggravated."
He said, "Carry a concealed weapon. That'll fix it.
Wright said Lance had been charged numerous times with crimes again women, and other crimes such as resisting arrest and escape. Wright said Lance had been on probation for a federal gun charge.

Wright said he knows "liberals" don't think you can just keep people in jail, but that Lance "should not have the right or opportunity to violate a good, upstanding woman."
Wright said, "It's too bad someone with a concealed weapons permit didn't walk by. That would fix it." He said people are tired of doing the right thing and criminals getting away with their actions.

Wright said in his view gun control is, "How fast can you can get the barrel of your gun back on the target?"

He encouraged women to walk in groups, and he ended by saying again, "I want you to get a concealed weapons permit. Don't get Mace. Get a firearm."

This kind of thing is getting way out of hand everywhere. I don't let my wife or daughter (who has her LTC) go anywhere alone anymore. I wish my daughter would consider carrying more often. She needs an LCP or something to have with her all the time now that they're approved in MA for sale. I might just buy her one for X-mas..

Normally stuff like this does not happen( or has no media coverage) unless there is a election happening soon. I'm not saying thats always the case, just generally speaking.

It's something that most fifth graders would know TAB, at least back in the 50-60-70's and prior! You don't need an advanced degree to use basic English skills.

The blame is being put in the wrong place. It is not the scum bag's fault. He was just being his usual scum bag self.
The fault lies with the Judges who keep letting him out after 20 arrests.
The fault lies with an asinine liberal Corrections philosophy that tries to tell the public that some POS with 20 priors can be "rehabilitated".
Can his victims ?
America desperately needs a real justice system to replace the legal industry that is endangering honest people.

Get her the LCP...it just might be the most important gift she every receives or you ever give.
BTW, that Hogue grip for the LCP mentioned in another thread comes in pink.

Kathy was FINALLY able to attend one of my Permit Classes and is now a proud Iowa Permit holder. I think maybe it's time to sacrifice my KelTec P-11 so she has something she can carry ALL the time.

Methinks I'll be forwarding this link to my illustrious Mayor, (that I posted here previously about) regarding the "fear" of letting law abiding citizens carry in City Parks....
Sometimes it takes a Sheriff to remind a Mayor about the reality of our world in which we live in....
+1 on Spartanburg, SC, it's Marshall Tucker Country...seems those Southern Boys don't pull any punches regarding repeat offenders and their "recidivism" in our Justice system, and they have had enough.
I of course defer to my recent Kalifornia Releasing Inmate's post, with the early release of another said scumbag, dispatched entering an elderly woman's home, the day after being released...
Gee....I'll bet this woman in SC, won't be a victim again...

I am a resident of Spartanburg County. Regarding the suggestion that Sheriff Wright's
comments may be re-election related, I suspect that he'll run unopposed again next year
so no need for grandstanding. From his comments, I hear the frustration with the other
side of the legal system that lets the repeat offenders out again and again.
Regarding the MTB... I grew up down the road from the Caldwell boys. Used to sit outside and
listen to them practicing.

If it were a campaign driven statement it could actually have a larger negative backlash than positive response. Many people will blame law enforcement for not keeping scum off the street rather than looking at prosecutors, judges and juries.

It was the first time she wasn't scheduled to work during one of my classes. And for the record, I did NOT make her pay. That would've cost me too much. ;D
