Title: Licensing ease!
Post by: Timothy on November 02, 2011, 02:47:25 PM
Some are aware that I've moved back to MA in the last few weeks.

Just for informational purposes I offer the following.

I called the Firearms Bureau in Boston and found that even though I was out of state for over a year, my LTC is still valid and all I need to do is file a change of address with the State and towns involved and I'm good to go!

Try that in Kalifornia, Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland, et al...

New Hampshire charged me 3 bucks to send me a new card....nearly made me cry!   :'( :'(

 ;D

In NJ you can't even get one in the first place.   When is the NRA going to come and help us out here? We need some freedom, baby!

I agree! Free the the poor folks in New Jersey before ALL of them move to Florida as political refugees. ;D
FQ13 who says free your own damn selves. Run for office, and that's not a joke. You have a band, can speak in front of a crowd, know how to put on a show, sell tickets, book a venue etc. Its not all that different. Hell, you can always sing Free Bird during a debate if you're having a Rick Perry moment. ;)

Get some petitions going to get your Governor moving in the right direction!  He's already endorsed AWB Romney so it's not a good sign.

It's sad that we have this crap to deal with anyway.  You don't hear of blood in the streets in Vermont or Alaska and all they require is NOTHING!

Not exactly, he still is limited to only those guns "approved by the state" 10 round mags and no "assault rifles" (Thanks Romney, you POS )

Also, he needs a permit to OWN  ammo, never mind the gun.

You can keep florida...the whole state looks like the marshes between the Garden State Parkway and the barrier islands except it's 900 degrees hotter. I could never win political office, due to a few incidents of hard living in my youth and a proclivity for a quick reaction to idiots that usuallly involves a hale and hearty F---you!. I do have a band and CAN speak in front of a crowd, but unfortunately unlike Bono or Toby Keith, it's just business. Where we gig people want to dance and have fun, not listen to politics. I need the money. AND unless someone holds a gun to my head I will never sing Free Bird again as long as I live. That song is right up there with Mustang Sally, Celebration, and Margaritaville. Give it a rest.
I also don't have the money and can't afford not to work long enough to become a test case VS NJ to make something happen.
And...I can't afford to move because no one is buying houses.

Not complaining...just saying that this is in the top 3 most repressive places in America and I don't see any effort here.

Iowa has a severe shortage of good blues bands, and we're a shall-issue state.  Just sayin.   ;D

Don't sell yourself short Jaybet. Your current governor makes a habit of saying FU and the conservative media love him. As far as hard living in your youth (and I love the euphemism and plan to steal it ;D), well our last President said that "When I was young and irresponsible, I was young and irresponsible", and his predecessor was the one who "didn't inhale". I thought that was a lie until I read the Lewinsky testimony and then I learned that he couldn't even manage to have sex right, so maybe he was telling the truth. ;) And then there is the Governator who went on Letterman and said "Yah, I inhaled and I exhaled because doing drugs is wrong, but you should at least do them right". So personally, I think you are in good company should you choose to run. I mean seriously, you are a bluesman. Who in their right mind won't expect you to have a past? It just adds to the appeal. Look, I am an inch away from taking a job from a liberal candidate because the money is good. I'd much rather work for you. I figure that at the very least the campaign would be a whole lot more fun and I'd actually support the issues. Give it some thought.

A campaign disguised as a musical tour, and vice versa.... that IS interesting- kill two birds with one stone. See- I've already got some cliche's to use too. Too bad Crusty Christie didn't go for the national stage...I could go right to govonator. (Haugh, haugh, haugh).
Seems like a lot of trouble to get a CCW though. It would probably be easier to convince Maggie to move near TT.  Still, gotta sell "This Old Dump" before we can make a move.

In another thread TAB had said that he always wanted to own an old house and enjoyed billing people to work on them. I used to be a contractor and I could NOT KEEP UP with mine. Reference the movie "The Money Pit". I'm dreaming of a rancher on a ranch.

Jay, I think TAB said he loved Old houses because he billed their owners through the nose, but would never buy one himself.
Sorry to be a killjoy.  ;D

Dude, you have the ZZ Top laugh down! That right there is golden. As far as the campaign/musical tour? Think Kinky Friedman running for Texas governor. He didn't get elected, but he got a  lot air time and sold a whole lot of records and books. All of which he deserved. I mean how many country singers would dare to write a song entitled "They don't make Jews like Jesus anymore" ;D. You are missing a bet here. Tell you what, throw in a couple of political jokes at your next gig. Jokingly suggest that you are running for Congress. Admit the bad stuf in your past, but say something like "But hey, I can't screw it up anymore than these guys". See how the crowds react. If you get a positive response, as I think you will, give it some thought.
FQ13 who is very, very far from joking here and starting to look at things like a cold blooded political operator.
PS If I PM you asking for census data and voting histories in your precinct, slap me. ;D

SAF and GOA, will probably be the local outlet to connect with first. I'm sure the NRA has a NJ group.  They involve themselves with the actual trench warfare of local/state Pro-Gun action, and it's a place to start.

It's a big hurdle there in Stalag New Jersey, but the anti's aren't stopping and neither should the few citizens of NJ that actually "get it".

If you look at the recent SCOTUS cases NRA just wants your money, It's SAF and GOA that are actually doing the work against the "advice" of NRA.

There ARE a lot of us here, but you can sum it up in the attitude at my gun club. Sorry...."Sportsman's Club". All members are encouraged to strap a fishing pole to their vehicle every once-in-a-while when going to the club.

The over-riding philosophy is to keep our heads down, pick our battles, but be careful what we do. All it would take is some state DEP type to come around and ask about lead contamination or something and pretty soon we can't afford to exist. This state is too small and the state government is too much of a pit bull to proceed without caution.

Bill of Rights what?....  Stalag is an appropriate term.

Got all my toys back today!  Nice to be back to the land of the self reliant!  The town I'm living in leaves a lot to be desired.

My 1911 is filthy but it appears no worse for wear after several weeks with the SIL.  He blew through the few hundred rounds of ball I gave him and had zero issues.  After 3-1/2 years and thousands of rounds that's about par for this Para!  It's been Timex consistent.

Gonna strip it naked this week and give it a good going over.
