Ventura, miffed by court, says he's off to Mexico
Associated Press | AP – 3 hrs ago
ST. PAUL, Minnesota (AP) — Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura is so upset by the dismissal of his airport security lawsuit that he threatened Friday to apply for dual citizenship so he can spend more time in his beloved Mexico — or run for president of what he labeled "the Fascist States of America."
Ventura, also a former wrestling star, sued the U.S. government in January, alleging that airport scans and pat-downs amounted to unreasonable search and seizure. A district judge threw out his lawsuit Thursday, ruling it should have been filed in a Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ventura has said a titanium hip implanted in him in 2008 sets off metal detectors and that agents previously used hand-held wands to scan his body. He said he was subjected to a body pat-down after an airport metal detector went off last November. Ventura said he hasn't flown since and won't fly commercially again.
Outside the federal courthouse in St. Paul, with a crew from his "Conspiracy Theory" cable TV show filming, Ventura said he hadn't decided whether to continue pressing his lawsuit. He said he wanted to make his case before a jury, not a panel of judges.
Ventura, a political independent who served one term as governor, teased that he might have to run for president to change the policy and a court system he regards as broken.
Moments later, he vowed to apply for Mexican citizenship so he can live there more months of the year.
The former Navy SEAL said he had lost his patriotism.
"I will never stand for a national anthem again. I will turn my back and I will raise a fist," he said.

In the words of Curly Bill Brocious in Tombstone, "Well........Bye."

He needs to recognize there is a difference between the Country, and the regime.

Yep. He's using a "blanket cop-out."

Isn't he kind of old to be throwing a temper tantrum?

Well, that wins the quote of the thread award right there! ;)

If the TSA lived with the same rules as the Texas State Capital Jesse"conspiracy guy"Ventura wouldn't have a problem. We have two lines to enter the Capital building, in one you empty your pockets into a bowl, let them check your bag and walk through a metal detector. In the second you present your CHL and pass through armed with the blessings of the Governor.

Just in case anyone missed it, the judge who ruled she lacked jurisdiction in this case cited that challenges to the TSA have to be brought before a Federal Appeals court because of national security. This is all part of the Patriot Act that Bush signed into law and Obama reauthorized.
Anyone remember that whole thing about trial by jury?

Trial by jury is only mandated for criminal offenses.
This is a civil matter, and Jesse weren't a jerk he would just resubmit in the proper court instead of throwing a hissy fit.

There are cases where you can request a Civil Jury Trial but I don't know that Jesses complaint qualifies nor would I guess what where he would file the case.

FTA "A district judge threw out his lawsuit Thursday, ruling it should have been filed in a Circuit Court of Appeals.
That's what you pay lawyers for, they're supposed to know this sh!t.

Double checked (Article III, Sec. II) and that is the case...I stand corrected....I'm not a fan of Jesse but I think he has a legitimate complaint...

In that old yarn of "there is no such thing as bad publicity"....
methinks Ol' Jesse has something else up his sleeve and is probably using the publicity from this to go launch something else.
That's my guess.

It's not a good move, and he would be well advised to give up any other political ideas he may have.
The Conspiracy show was the final straw for any credibility he may have had, and this incident just makes him look like a pouty asshole.

The fact that we are discussing whether or not a man who made a career out of running around half naked, wearing a pink feathered boa and hitting people over the head with folding chairs might have "damaged his political credibility" speaks volumes of ill about the state of the republic. ;D

What speaks "volumes of ill about the state of the republic" is that that was before he got elected Gov. ::)

Perhaps he can move in with Alec Baldwin.......Oh that's right, he's still here. ::)

He's just trying to get some publicity for his Conspiracy show. I tried to watch it once, made it 5 minutes and couldn't take anymore...

That's almost exactly the same thing my Dad said about it ;D
