My Grandfather, and WWII Veteran,  B.M. Harold "Swede" Christenson. USN.
An amazing man.

Veteran’s Day Prayer

Dear Lord,
Today we honor our veterans,
worthy men and women
who gave their best
when they were called upon
to serve and protect their country.
We pray that you will bless them, Lord,
for their unselfish service
in the continual struggle
to preserve our freedoms, our safety,
and our country’s heritage, for all of us.
Bless them abundantly
for the hardships they faced,
for the sacrifices they made
for their many different contributions
to America’s victories
over tyranny and oppression.
We respect them, we thank them,
we honor them, we are proud of them,
and we pray that you will watch over
these special people
and bless them with peace and happiness.
In Jesus’ name we pray; Amen.

A salute to all my fellow Vietnam Vets, and a heartfelt thank you to all the others who served before and after, during peacetime or at war.  We are all brothers (and sisters, too).  I am honored to be in your company.

On a lighter note I have to point out that Veterans Day contains a certain amount of BS.
Think about it,
The Post Office has the day off,
Banks have the day off,
Schools have the day off,
Even the Library has the day off.
The Air force doesn't get the day off
The Army doesn't get the day off,
The Navy doesn't get the day off,
The only reason the Marine Corps gets the day off is because they are all still hung over from the Birthday Ball yesterday.

If they really wanted to "Honor the Military" every one else would be working and the whole DOD would  have the day off.

Thanks Tom!

Come to think of it, this is the first Veterans Day I've had off in about twenty five years!

Why, do you ask?  Because I don't have a job...and frankly, it doesn't bother me as much as it should!

Happy Veterans Day!

Considering the DOD is about the only positive agency in the U.S. goverment, I look at any federal holiday as a good day, since the rest of the regime isn't in session and trying to screw us!

And only because it's Veterans day I am not going to comment on the mustaches or hair styles in Tim's picture.   ;D

Not a problem here Junkie!

I've grown out of my "70's porn star" look!  My big brothers OTOH still sport theirs!   ;D

That picture was the weekend I got married in Sept. of '84.  It was the last time my entire family were in the same place at the same time.
