yea, mine too... ::)
I know exactly how much my crap weighs because I just paid for the moving myself. Actually, my wife has about 5000 pounds of crap! Everything I want or need will fit in my car or truck: Clothes, guns, fishing gear and three toolboxes! She can keep the rest...

When the Ex and I moved out to Ca. we needed a 26' Ryder truck.
When we separated I moved back to NH with 2 duffel bags and a back pack.

Remember, if it don't fit in a Seabag, you probably don't need it!

Are you guys kidding? Next to Kilo or Billt, TAB is my number one choice of guys I'd volunteer to help move. Of course I get to choose what I move, and I make no guarnantees as to where those items will end up, but they will, by God, be moved. ;D

You know what they say: A friend will help you move. A TRUE friend will help you move the body.

Life is rough.
My contribution will be to highly recommend Penske over U-Haul.
Pictures please. Preferably of the new digs and the toys.

Last move we used a Freightliner and a Tipton 53'.
-
Its only about a mile, so its not that bad.
and I do have a isuzu npr with a 2500 lb lift gate. ;D
-
When I moved to CT in 2010, I rented a Penske truck and paid a few of my daughters friends and with rental, fuel, pizza, beer and giving the boys a few hundred bucks I spent nearly a grand to move 5000 lbs 85 miles.
This time I hired some pros' to do the heavy stuff and only spent about 1200. It was worth the extra money. I'll never do it myself again. If I still had an unbroken back and both of my hips, maybe...but I don't!

Normally I just throw a bbq and have every thing packed, it goes real quick then every one eats and drinks beer.
took 3 hours last time. due to the time of year and the weather that is not a option. The good news is we already have a buyer for the house and don't have to be out until jan1 so plenty of time to get every thing over to the new house. Plus the inlaws are coming... they don't know it yet, but they are helping.

I figure about 4 days to box and move every thing of mine. About a week for the rest of the house inculding all my sons stuff... then about 2 weeks to get the wifes stuff.
it should be np talking my inlaws ito helping move our sons stuff, the rest is doubtful.
PS I already have many, many plans for the new place, but those can all wait for spring/summer or until I go nuts from looking at stuff and fix it.

Moving from one town to another is "not all that bad". The last time we moved it was a couple of blocks, and took FOREVER. Why? When you're moving to a different town you do it in one trip, but when you're moving a short distance it's one pickup truck load at a time.
On a different, but related, topic, how do two people acquire so much shit in a relatively short period of time?!? All I can figure is that in the last house the stuff in the basement was down there having babies, cuz I KNOW I carried a LOT more OUT of the basement than I ever carried IN.
-
Used to be when a friend moved, all their friends showed up to help haul stuff and the Movee provided food and a keg for a party afterwards...
As we got older and more affluent, we all still showed up, but chipped in to buy a professional mover and had an all day party at the new place with the BBQ and keg.
The "attitude" when from a willingness to get the job done for a friend to a dread of when someone was going to move again, to positively hoping someone would want to move soon.

Well got all the really heavy stuff moved, took 4 trips in the box truck, but you can actually park a car in the garage now.

That won't last long ;D
-
you are right, won't be here too much longer.
I have a 4 car garage at the other house, there should be room for one car.

Doubtless the car parked indoor will be the one driven by a certain redheaded physician. ;D
