I had been hemming and hawing, trying to find that special "50th birthday gun". Looking at Berrettas, Taurus', Springfields, etc.
Went back to my local gun shop, not the one that was such a jerk to me, but the nice people I've bought several guns from to see what they had again. They had a used Sig232 that they apparently had way too much money into and we could not come to an accord. So I went with my second choice: 1976 S&W 64-1 38spl Polished Stainless Steel, 4in bull barrel in like new condition. Pinned barrel, spring loaded pin on the hammer. Everything I like. It even had Pachmayr gripper professionals on it!
I got what I feel is a good deal, about $250 less than the market price of a new one which ain't half the gun if you ask me!
So there you have it.
Can't wait to shoot it next week!
I'll post a picture when I get time ;D

I bought my wife a blued one a few years ago. Sweet! I'd still get the Sig 232 If I could. I have one and it handles all the high powered ammo flawlessly and is deadly accurate. It's also an awsome CCW gun. I have one in my fanny pac as I'm typing this. Not too heavy and I have all the faith in it's ability with the Personnal Protection Ammo in it. It does kick like a mule with the hot loads in it though. But, as you know, that's after the fact..who cares? ;D

Sweet...you probably run around with Jerry Miculek, eh? ;)

Great buy, I think you'll be very happy, about to purchase a model 65, police trade in, the 4" models go for 250.00 and the 3" go for 325.00, I'm gonna get a 4" and cut it down to 3" and install a Powers interchangeable front sight module and then do a round butt conversion. Tonight I'm picking up a 2 1/2" model 19 that is supposed to be a special edition. Don't know until I've seen it, will post pictures.

Sure, in my dreams! I really love shooting revolvers. I only keep autos around for the extra capacity. I mean, what if the zombies happened to show up?
Here's my 3in '81 Model 10-7 Police trade in from Australia:

As the old saying goes 'wheel guns are real guns'.
Also, the bad guy can 'see' that it's loaded.
