Title: Confessions..
Post by: santahog on December 05, 2011, 10:45:52 PM
I've been in Newt's (for Pres.) camp for more than five years now.. I was around for all the stuff that's about to come out about him. It's all inside baseball..

Okay.. Here it is.. If I could have any of the declared candidates for President, I'd pick Perry..
The guy just discovered Vicodin as a very effective remedy for a messed up back, and a nice buzz too.. So you get the "Peace, mannn" kinda thing that he slips into on the stump sometimes.. He keeps making promises that he cannot, as President, legally keep.. And I'm not sure he knows it, either..
Where he is wrong, he has demonstrated that he has learned, and can be turned around before he pulls the trigger on a bad policy..
I don't care if he's Forrest Gump, which he may well be.. I like the guy. On the moral issues, he's either right or trying to do right.. That means alot to me.. On Defense, he won't throw away the soldiers on a dumb or futile idea. I believe that..
I don't know if he can win against Obama. I think he will do better among hispanics than Obama ever will again in his life.. I know he can carry the south. I think he can carry the mid-west because they all elected, at least somewhat, conservatives.. Who knows about Florida and California.. Mediscare became a reality under Obama.. Maybe somebody can finally drill the point home in the retirement communities that the Democrats are the ones trying to kick them into the grave, not the GOP, (but who knows if that's even possible).
I think the guy would fix the border, first.. I think the guy would kill terrorists without bitch-slapping US citizens.. I know he's right on the 2A. I believe he would put controls in place to make sure that all (real) votes are counted, and the unreal ones were prosecuted.. I believe he will do that..

I"m just getting it off my chest.. Fire away..
Joe

No problem Joe, we all tend to go off on tangents or explanations or even apologies on occasions.

As for people giving up freebies, especially those who basically have no choice at this point, will be damn near impossible.

I like Perry, and I am impressed by Newt. And I am well aware that the MSM (D) is gunning for both and trumping up the minor into "ZOMG! Did you know that..." hysteria. I'll vote for either.

I hope we all would damn well vote for either...and that isn't an endorsement of either one.

There is not doubt in my mind that the Republican candidate will be the biggest vote getter in the run against BHO and I'd vote for that candidate if it were Joe Biden.

It would please me if there were no other conservative alternatives in the race to siphon, Libertarian included for this election, to siphon off votes we need to end this administration.

I wouldn't mind if the top vote getters in each of the major parties got to run the country, alternating every 3 months.  The time and money spent in "transition" 4 times a year instead of once every 4 years would do much to improve the quality of government because nothing could get done.  The cost of all these transitions would be minimal compared to the cost damage a functional administration would impose.

I would go for throwing a dart bliindfolded at a randomly selected city phone book. Use it for all fed elections.
We might get someone who wants to run things honestly, has actually had a job and wants to get back to it ASAP.

If we get a lying, cheating, no good POS that has never done anything useful, well hell - at least nothing will have changed much.

You know, that's actually an idea. Take everyone who is registered to vote and meets the Constitutional criteria, and has at least a HS diploma and a clean record. Pick 5 by lottery and put those five on the ballot. That's the primary. Put the two top vote getters in the general. After the last 12 years how much worse can it get? :P

Quaker, that kind of goes along with my idea:  anyone who actually wants the job should be immediately disqualified.

Get someone who doesn't want it, can't afford the time off, has too much on his (on her) plate, and draft 'em for 4 year's duty.

Exactly, CR.  anyone who is willing to go through the circus and gauntlet our politics have become is WAY to much after power to be trusted.

We need to find folks who we think would do a decent job but want nothing to do with it, then elect one and the draft them into the job.  Four year term.  And if they did a good job of it and still don't want the position, they get drafted for a second term.

Yeah, I know, all the usual suspects will be stumping for months in advance about how they would never run for President....hmmm..maybe some of them do that already.

Tried that with Fred Thompson and wound up with Obama.

I don't want the job but I'll take the 400K for life!

Actually, my closet full of skeletons is really a walk-in and some of those ladies haven't died yet!   ;D

And I DID inhale as well as exhale but that isn't a problem anymore...
