I have regretted Badger's Milk leaving this forum for awhile. Today I really regret it. I have and love an eotech 512. Today I had to change the batteries in the thing (note that this is after almost two years and the original AAs worked just fine). Anyhow, its not as easy as you would think. There are these two little rubber doohickeys that fell out. I didn't know they were there or I would have exercised more caution opening the battery box. Anyway, I have tried putting them on both poles of the battery box and no dice. The optic is fine (or it was a few weeks ago), so it has to be the battery installation. I don't have the instructions, so if anyone owns one or has done this, help would be welcome.

FQ, there are two rubber "donuts" on the body of my Eotech that measure 1/2" across. (they could be part of the overall gasket)
There are two smaller dia. ones inside the battery box that go over what looks like little silver spring loaded cups at the bottom.
Can you describe what fell out using less technical terms than "doohickeys". ;)

What can I say, I'm a mechanical genius, I'll try to put it in layman's terms for you though. :D
They are two small rubber rings/washer looking pieces with a spring attached. They look like what you would use to secure the connection to the end of a battery. I hope that helps.

Having never looked at the sight before, I'd suggest that they're o-rings with spring assist to facilitate keeping moisture out of the battery compartment. Purely a wild ass guess though.
The instructions I posted don't mention them at all!

I just spoke to Eo-tech. Talk about customer service! I explained my problem and even fessed up that I bought the sight used. They said that this had been an issue on some older models, generally caused by leaving the batteries in too long (Doh!, Though in my defense the thing lit up a month ago.). Anyway, the CS guy, who BTW was the same guy who answered the phone (no electronic switch board or press 1 for English crap), diagnosed the problem and said that they'd have a repair kit in the mail this afternoon, no charge. Given that I bought it used and it was arguably my fault, you can't beat that with a stick. If I didn't love them before, I do now. Seems like a great company with an awesome product.

Badgersmilk might have answered your question, but only after a couple paragraphs on what a piece of sh!t your rifle is.

Lot of good information came from Badgersmilk, and I do miss him/it also.
If I didn't agree with his view on a matter of choice, I simply didn't use it.

Gotcha.
Thats the bottom of the battery compartment that came out. If just the rubber parts came out, I would have told you to grab a roachclip pair of hemostats and put it back around the spring at the bottom. With the spring coming out, err...ahh...well?
Glad Eotech helped you out 'cause mine has never done that and I would have guessed you to be screwed. ;D
Mine has never NOT had batteries in it so the new kit should fix you right up! I did change them once last year just because.
