This past Thursday I was at Cabela's roaming around, picking up some .45 ACP ammo they had on sale for $14.99 a box. I was walking the length of the gun counter, checking out if they had anything new, when on the bottom shelf this beautiful polished Stainless Steel CZ 75B jumped out at me. I've been looking for one in polished Stainless for several months, but had no luck finding one. All of the shops I called sang the same song. CZ produces very few of them in polished Stainless, and if they get any they don't last long.
I asked the clerk to see it, and he told me it was the only one they got in. I couldn't get my money out fast enough! What was really nice is it has the high grade Cocobolo Grips. Most of the Stainless 75's come with checkered rubber grips. These are beautiful, and really add to the beauty of the gun. Between the polished Stainless Steel, and the grips, it's pimped just enough. I like the CZ 75 because it's built like a tank. The rails inside the frame really makes for a nice slide to frame fit. The sights are fixed, standard 3-Dot.
This gun was the cover story in the September 2011 issue of Guns Magazine. And after reading it I really wanted to get my hands on one.
http://fmgpublications.ipaperus.com/FMGPublications/GUNS/GUNS0911/
Even the gun they featured in the magazine didn't have the Cocobolo Grips, so I got lucky. They really make the gun. The only downside I could find are the magazines are really expensive. They supply 2 with the gun, but extra 16 round factory mags run $51.00 each. And that is dealer price from Midway. Even the Mec-Gar 16 rounders are $38.00 each. Being solid steel it's a bit heavy for a full size 9 MM, but it's strictly a range gun, and I doubt I'll ever carry it. The only downside to polished Stainless is that it shows every smudge and fingerprint. But a wipe down with a soft cloth makes it brilliant enough to cause a car accident if you carried it on a sunny day! Christmas came a few days early!

Don't you just hate it when a gun overpowers you, renders you senseless and takes you home with it?

CZ 75 just fits the hand SOOOOOOOOOOOO well! And that one is a BEAUT!

I forgot to mention. Buying a firearm at Cabela's is a new experience. You no longer fill out the 4473 long hand. After you select your weapon, and make the decision to purchase, you are then directed to a set of computer terminals at the end of the gun counter. The place looks like a bank. You sit at the terminal and click on "start". It prompts you to answer all of the questions on the 4473. You type in all of the same information, and click "YES" or "NO" on all of the usual stuff.
It then prints out the 4473 and puts all of the information you typed where it's supposed to go. This happens out of sight, behind the counter. You still have to sign and date the form long hand, and Cabela's has to enter all of the firearm information long hand as well. Serial number, make, model, caliber, etc. After that they turn you over to the cashier and you then pay for everything, then they hand you the gun. They no longer walk you out to the front door. However I think they may if you also buy ammo for the gun at the same time.
The guy told me Cabela's was having a 2 fold problem. People weren't filling out the 4473's very legibility, and were screwing up many of them before they got it right. He told me before they started this he had a woman come in and buy a Ruger LCP and she went through 9 forms before she finally got the thing correct! The ATF doesn't like abbreviations, or running the information out of the box assigned to it on the form. Typical bureaucratic crap. So this way everything gets filled out correctly.
The problem is they don't have it organized very well yet. They had 6 or 8 employees all bumping into one another while just as many customers were all standing around waiting. They need to do it like the DMV with numbered lines, and move everyone along. It took me over 45 minutes to get out of there after I said, "I'll take it", and they really weren't all that busy at the time.

MecGars are about $25 in my neck of the woods...unless they have gone up.

PS: Need a fancy holster so you can wear it as your Bar-B-Q gun!

Damn! I'm a southern boy who lived in Texas and that's a new one on me. I feel strangely deprived. I've never had a Bar-B-Que gun before. I am now fairly certain that I need one. Damn you Ellis! ;D

A lot of good choices in the Ugly Gun thread, FQ.....something for everyone there ;D ;D

FQ, up North we call that CZ a "PIMP" gun, whereas down South it's a BBQ gun! LOL

NICE!!!

Very nice weapon no matter what Ellis says ;D ;D ;D
And an ambidextrous safety too.
I'd give my left arm to be ambidextrous. ;D
-
CZ 75's continue to be and uphold a reputation as one of the finest 9mm pistols ever made.
Although this "Willy The Pimp" version is extra "cool"....
Merry Christmas billt....but you only walked out with one? There wasn't "something" else? (besides ammo)... :D

For anyone who shoots a CZ 75 B, and is interested, I found this link for reasonably priced CZ 75 magazines. They're the cheapest I've found thus far. Mec-Gar is the only non factory company I will take the chance buying after market magazines from. They produce the factory magazines for companies like Beretta, FN Browning, Sig, and many others. I've purchased several 20 round Mec-Gar magazines for my Beretta 92-F, and all of them run like a Rolex. They offer many magazines over the standard factory capacity.
-
Another beauty Bill..
-
Bill, excellent find. Now you need to get some nice Hakan grips for it to really pimp it out. ;D
As for the mags, you can get them way cheaper than that. I have only been paying $30 for the 19 rounders, and those can be hard to find. I usually get the 16 round ones for $25 or so. Mec-Gar is who produces the factory mags for CZ, so you are good there too.
I have been hankering for the CZ 75B SA model, or an SP-01. Those SP-01's are dang hard to find as it is the hot pistol to get right now. I use my 75B for 3 Gun, and I have it all tuned up. I still want that SA though.

I've been eyeing up a polished stainless CZ75 myself but it's got the plastic grips. If I buy it I plan on putting these on it: http://vzgrips.com/gun-grips/cz-grips-1/cz-75-1/cz-75-full-size/cz75-black-desert-sand-g10 (http://vzgrips.com/gun-grips/cz-grips-1/cz-75-1/cz-75-full-size/cz75-black-desert-sand-g10)
Just curious, the one I'm looking at is $695, is that in line with what you paid?

Mine was $649.00+ tax. Out the door it came to $711.20.

Holy crap! What's your sales tax, 11%?

You made me check the receipt. It was $649.99....$61.75 tax....$711.74 out the door. Our sales tax is 9.3 %, but that varies depending on which town you live in, and on what you buy. Cabela's is in Glendale, same as me, and I believe our state sales tax is 9.3%. Got to pay for all the illegal invaders some how. They sure as hell aren't going to pay for themselves.

That's a good price, especially with the nicer grips. I wish I had a Cabella's near by, only Gander and Outdoor World. I bought my son a youth model Henry 22 lever action yesterday at outdoor world, what a nightmare. They use the same electronic system for their 4473 and from the time I pulled my number to the time I left was around 2 hours. I got the last youth model Henry in the store. I watched 3 other people handle it while I was waiting for my number to be called. I still don't understand why you'd wait in line then not buy what you were there waiting to look at a couple days before Christmas but I'm glad they didn't buy it.

Still high at 9.3 percent. We're at 6.25 here with nothing on food, clothing under 50 bucks, beer, wine or booze either.
We have a state income tax too but still not too high. They manage to get us in other ways though! It takes a lot of scratch to line the pockets in Boston!
-
Not only that, but we now have a 2% tax on FOOD.
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2010/02/03/20100203foodtax0203.html
The illegal invaders are costing this state a fortune across the board. And on top of it all, we're still going broke.
-
They had a question on the ballot here last year to eliminate the state sales tax and the morons voted against it! It's not the first time it's happened either. At least they stopped the tax on booze!
Smokes get hammered. A pack of my old brand of Marlboro's is about $9.50 a pack! Thankfully, I was able to quit when I got run over by a car in '06!

Hard way to quit IMHO!

That is not true.
Jan Brewer solved that problem, it is the treasonous federal Govt that is costing you.
With out them the illegals would be gone.

The only solution that MIGHT get the feds off your case and pay the bills is to forget about arresting illegals. Just start fining the hell out of any business that hires them. You should be able to justify that under state taxing/licencing laws. Audit each local business and fine them $5k per head for every employee they hire (even temps and those hired through labor contractors) that haven't gone through E-verify. Its not like I trust that system, I just think it wil be huge detterent. But doing it this way avoids the raids and the accompanying political crap. It just will cause employers to be too afraid to hire illegals.

That has been hashed and rehashed forever. Arizona even put in place a law that would revoke a owners business license the second time they were caught hiring illegals. Then we have Sheriff Joe Arpaio conducting his "sweeps" of local businesses rounding up and arresting these people, (both illegals and the business owners). All to no avail. Arpaio is being sued every fifteen minutes by every civil rights group in the country. There seems to be no end to this until they completely SEAL OFF the border. And we all know how well that is going at the Federal level. Brewer has even gone to asking for public donations to help get the damn thing built. But until it is, along with enough armed men to man it, they'll keep running like rabbits across it.....And costing us billions every year because of it.

I liked my CZ-75B in Polished Stainless so much I added another one in Matte Stainless. These guns fit the hand like a glove, and run perfectly. I picked it up Monday and had it out to the range yesterday. It was boringly reliable, and printed very tight groups at 25 yards. I'm really impressed with the out of the box accuracy these guns provide. Much better than any of my Glocks. The trigger was a bit gritty for the first 100 rounds, but then it smoothed out nicely. I ran 250 rounds through it total.
I've got some Cocobolo grips coming tomorrow from Midway that are CZ factory replacement, and match the grips on my Polished Stainless model I got last December. Stainless and wood really look good together. These guns are getting increasingly hard to come by. Davidson's got 5 in last Thursday. I immediately bought one, and by the time I took a shower and got dressed, the remaining 4 were gone. They really sell out fast. This gun is built like a Bradley. I doubt you could ever shoot one out.

I scratched part of the itch yesterday with a Milsurp CZ 83. It'll be off for re-blueing next week. Checkered walnut grips on the way.
CZ-82 next month. Same treatment. Next year, CZ-75 compact. Got it bad.
-
Not getting a pair of the 82's ? (or 83's depending on ammo preference )

No, what I meant is you are getting an 83 now, and getting the 82 later ?
Since they are the same gun I was curious if you just wanted to compare the .380 and 9mm Mak calibers.

Ahhh.....You are correct. Recoil, recovery of sight picture, ease of operation, ballistics, and etc. for both. And besides, I just want 'em. ;D I could read all about it on the intertoobs, I just want another excuse for some trigger time.

Any excuse is a good excuse . ;D
Nice thing about it is that if you love one and hate the other I'm pretty sure all you have to do is replace the barrel.

If what I read about price of parts, then gunsmithing fee's are correct: cheaper to buy another pistol.
