Yes I fell off the edge of the earth! Yes it's been two years since I've been around. But life throws ya some challenges and hurdles to overcome from time to time. Once we relocated to our new home, I worked the rest of the paving season driving truck. I ended up losing that job over a tax issue with my employer. He made it right with me financially, but said he didn't want to pay me legit anymore. So I had to find another job. I'm not working under the table for anybody...it only benefits them.
So I worked the summer of 2010 for another dump truck outfit, and got laid off early in the season. Mid Sept. work just dried up around here locally. So I looked from Sept. to Dec. and found a job on Craigslist for a driving job at the local Ford Plant, shuttling trailers around in the yard. Started working their the end of Dec. 2010.
The 7th of March, 2011, I slipped on some black ice stepping off the truck to put a trailer jack under a trailer. As soon as my foot hit the ground, I went airbourne. I landed on the dock truck ramp after I unhooked from the trailer I had just docked. I barely missed the truck step with my head. I landed completely on my left shoulder and rolled the arm under me, tearing something in my elbow as well! I was expecting to have my shoulder operated on by Jun.-Jul. at the latest. But my Employer was from Michigan, and he decided he didn't want to participate in responding to anything the BWC sent him? So everytime something got sent out to him, it took 20 days to get back before anything could be approved. Money, MRI, Surgery, etc... So by the time I got a surgery date, it was late Aug.
Then I go in for surgery, and the anestesciologist didn't like the sound of my lungs. I'd smoked for over 30 years! I wonder why? So, my surgery was postponed pending approval for some cardio-pulmonary testing. My test was scheduled for Sept. 22. I bought an electronic cigarette the first week of Sept. and I haven't smoked another tobacco cigarette since! I've been smoke free for 4 months now. I passed my testing, and the cardio-pulm. doctor said I only had a slight bit of COPD. So, I figure I will get this surgery knocked out, and I'll start feeling alot better.
Well, I had my shoulder surgery on Nov. 2. Still dealing with some nagging deep core shoulder pain. But I'm tolerating it better than I was even a week ago. So that's good. Now I just gotta get this elbow added to my claim, so I can get it looked at. Very tender and constantly painful. A mistake in paperwork keeps me from having it approved already. But we'll work through it. Makes physical therapy uncomfortable. And I can't remember when I got a good night's sleep like a normal person? But my bills get paid every month, and I'm living! Oh, and my daughter got married Oct. 22. So I've had alot going on.
I got new homes for a couple of my firearms. I don't have my Ruger P97DC in .45 cal., or my HighPoint 995 9mm carbine rifle. I replaced them with a Savage 350 Security 12 ga. shotgun, and a Mossberg Tactical .22 AR style rifle. I kinda miss the ol' .45, but I'm looking to replace it with a more carry friendly model. Maybe the Sig 250 in .45? But I love the two new additions to my gun safe. I haven't shot the Savage yet, as I am left handed, and I just had left shoulder surgery, but the Mossberg .22 tactical is a blast to shoot on steel targets.
Last but not least...I bought a Heritage Rough Rider .22Lr/Mag combo 6.5" single action revolver, at a gun show back in Oct. I'm having so much fun with this gun, I can't stand myself! I lucked out and found a black leather holster at the same gun show. I took it down the road to my local leathersmith. He handmade me a 2" belt with a 1 1/4" ranger buckle setup. He made the belt out of black saddle grade leather. The ranger also saddle grade leather, is Ox blood in color. As is the leg strap, and hammer retention strap. No fancy leather tooling, or anything, just a clean looking gun belt. He charged me $42.00 for everything! I gave him a $50, just cuz he did such a nice job! All my friends just love it! And I love this little cowboy gun! I wish I had about 3-4 more of them! I do have plans to buy that new Heritage .45/410 revolver next! Can't wait to open carry that one to the store!
So now I'm in the middle of setting up a small shooting range out here to our new place. A range with stationary and moving steel targets only. I like to hear the "ping" when I'm shooting targets. Lets me know I'm hitting what I'm aiming at! I figure I could set it up for a 3 gun challenge even! It's good to be back. Missed you guys and gals as well, so drop me a line or two sometime? :)
I'll try to get some pictures on here when I get a chance.

Rough time but it sounds like you weathered it well. Deepwater has a Heritage .357 4/12. Nice gun.
Welcome back.

The Coroner? The Coroner? Oh yeah! ;)
So wow, not like you were goofing off or ignorin' us or something. Sounds like your plate has been full but things are working out.
Good to catch up and have you back.

Glad to see you back, sounds like your ups and downs are averaging out on the happy side ;D

Welcome back Coroner. I can't believe you've been gone that long. I had shoulder surgery a few years back and it's completely pain free. I wish you the best of luck with your recovery.

Thank you guys for the encouraging words, and it's good to be back. Missed you guys too!

Here's some pictures of my Heritage Rough Rider .22 combo with my holster and new belt rig. If the gun looks a bit different to you, I sanded the blueing off and polished the metal parts. All is aluminum except for the barrel. And I keep a thin layer of gun oil on rig rag to keep it looking shiny and clean. Thought I'd give it a different look. What do you guys think?

Welcome back CORONER!!!!!!!! :)

Nice to have you back. Now just stay in one piece for us, OK?
I like the simple look of the leather rig, I'm not a fan of pimped out. The gun looks sweet, contrasts came out nicely.
Shoulder surgery SUCKS! My knee replacement recovered faster than my shoulder.

Nah, I'm west of Sandusky about 15 minutes. But I live at Willow Point Marsh. You can probably find a map of it on the ODNR website? Maybe just google map it? I've been through Ravenna though.

Quitting the smoking with the use of my E-cig wasn't as hard as I thought it was gonna be? From the first day, I never gave up, and I still got my dose of Nicotine, just not all the poison from the tobacco. Now, almost 5 months later, I don't even use the E-cig everyday? But....I'm definately porkin' out on some eats! Tobacco must have a natural appetite suppression in it? Cuz my E-cig don't! lol
