Title: In Iowa, one last thought, please..
Post by: santahog on January 01, 2012, 05:05:03 PM

Perry is our friend, moreso than any of the rest of the GOP field, as I see it..
Today, this is as important as it gets, for gun owners...
The gains we've made in the last couple of years can be lost so quickly, perhaps never to be regained..
Please consider this, and Rick Perry when you go to Caucus..
 Thank you and God bless...

This is from the Perry website...

As a life-long hunter and a concealed handgun license holder, Perry is an ardent defender of the Second Amendment. As governor, he signed a Castle Doctrine bill to ensure citizens have the right to defend themselves in their homes. He signed agreements allowing licensed residents of 40 other states to carry concealed weapons in Texas, and vice versa. He also stopped local governments from prohibiting legally concealed weapons on public property, cut CHL renewal fees and protected shooting ranges from junk lawsuits.

Again, Thank You for your consideration, and I ask your support in the Caucuses for Rick Perry

And these are a few of the reasons the GOP leadership, and the media will do everything they can to keep him out of the running.
There are good candidates in the race, Perry, and Huntsman for example.
Did you know there are 30 registered GOP candidates currently running ?
The system has decreed that your choices will be the RINO Romney, the flake Paul, or Newt.

Elections have become a waste of time.

Tom, I know how you feel, but please don't give up yet... Your turn is a week from now.. After that, you can bitch again, but till then, can you pass this info around?
I'm talking as a gun guy here.. If my only choices are Newt and Mitt, I take Newt, but I'm not down to that yet, and neither are any of us here, yet.. I don't want to be put in a position where I have to be a felon in order to maintain my ability to fight back.. I don't think Perry even knows about the NDAA thing (which O signed today, btw. Hold on to your hats). I don't think he is in the business of letting something like that stand, though.
Probably Newt and certainly Romney are going the distance. RP will be there, too, and that will be a mess, but that is then, and this is now..

This is my appeal..
As a gun owner and RKBA guy, I adjure you all, first in Iowa and then NH, SC and Florida, please, give serious consideration to Perry, and in the case of Caucuses, speaking for him, to the point of fillibuster if necessary/practicable.. Go back to the website and read it over. Make some notes.
I get I-35. He was wrong. I think he can be taught what he didn't realize. It sure sounds like he's figuring it out to me.. We can work with him.. I don't think he can pull off a part-time Congress. So what.. It will play well with the masses. He really is the only of the GOP field who can deliver the Hispanic vote, in the General.. I recoil at hearing "Candidate X" with the word "Only" attached to one end or the other, but in the case of the Hispanic vote, I think that's true.. (LaRaza isn't going along, but its not like we were gonna get their support anyway.. Drug gangs rarely contribute to Republicans..)
Give it a shot, and don't lose faith.. Seven months, (with the Northeast on April 24th and California on June 5th, to remind us of what we have to lose), that's all we have to do to pull this off..
For the sake of the long gun in your house and the short one on your hip, will you give Perry a chance.. The worst that can happen is that we get Newt at the Convention.. (Because I don't believe Mitt can take the nomination without blowing the Party apart.)
I ask your consideration..
Thank you..

Oh, don't get me wrong, just because I think we'll wind up voting from the roof tops eventually doesn't man I'm going to skip voting on paper.

It must be nice to actually have a say in this process.  By the time August rolls around, there ain't gonna be a whole lotta choice.  Then again, based on who we picked for senators, Mittens is probably a shoe-in anyway.
