So I am killing time browsing Craig's List, when I find this:

Do you think he'd take a personal check?
;D ;D ;D

yeah, I wish I could better refine the search results for Craig's List. It appears that dealing in Corvette parts is a cottage industry in itself, so I get a lot of false hits that way. Arggh...
I like doing key word searches for Mustang, Camaro, GTO, and Nova.
Are there any other key words I should search for, muscle car wise?

Not to distract from the OP, but have you watched Barrett-Jackson? It will be on starting Tues, Jan 17th through the wrap up on the 22nd. Wanna drool over cars? Tune in starting Thrusday at the latest... It's on Speed Channel. If you don't have it, get it now.. I keep that channel just for that.. I wait all year for this.. January is in Scottsdale AZ, then there's another, shorter one the first week of April in Palm Beach, FL.
It's worth it. I promise..

PS. I think 80K is out of line without some documentation. Numbers matching? MANY questions to be answered before you do that..
Start here...

Vette pics? These are on the block at Barrett-Jackson, as of Sept..

Don't forget the 396 Chevelle SS.
The came in a color I described as Gun Metal gray...a dark gray that I loved.

And the Impala 409.....even a song written about this one "409" by The Beach Boys.

Ah, the Impala with the 409 W-Heads......a bad ride..........would make a good "sleeper"...excellent HP/weight ratio.
When I was putting the 327ci SBC in my '82 S-10, the guy's shop we were using had a 1963 (I believe) Impala SS with the 409 on jack-stands doing a frame-off resto.

Had a friend in college, Dennis The Ex-Pig Farmer, who drove a 409 with the name Lewd Lady on the rear fenders.
He complained about the gas mileage :D :D

Is it just me or does anybody else seem to find that the arms just naturally go through the steering wheel of the 63 Impala, and rest there to drive?..

works like that with most cars driven sedately...
Kick her up to 90+ mph and you won't find casual steering wheel arm draping going on...and if it does, it won't last real long. ;D

I have it on good authority that at around 140, you ain't gotta move a steering wheel very much to make drastic changes. ;D

Never drove a car at 140. Highest I got was 136 in a 1984 Nissan 300ZX Turbo.
It felt stable and controlled and I was pushing it faster when the electronics shut down. Tach dropped to zero ..no go at all. coasted down to around 110 and it all lit up again... Seems there is an limiter that shuts it all down at over 136.
Was in the same neighborhood with a 1996 Camero Z28 and it felt too squirrelly at 110 to go any faster....

I found some other keywords to search for.
challenger
nova
pickup
It is absolutely nuts what guys want for a carcass of a Camaro.
I find the old pick up trucks aren't demanding prices as high as the Camaro "shells".
A guy I worked with clued me in about the GMC/Chevy 5 window pick up trucks.

I searched "cuda" and got a couple hits. 8)

I had my '70 Roadrunner with a mild 440 and manual trans up to about a 140 from Ellensberg heading to Seattle one late Sunday night when I worked for Burlington Northern. Closest I ever came to flying :o
Old muscle cars with wore out bushings shouldn't go down the road at all let alone that fast. Young & dumb... My parents must have looked at me back in those days like I look at my son now.

Slightly off topic, but who cares, we are talking about cool old fixer upper vehicles. Give steelsoldiers.com a try. A deuce and a half anyone, maybe an up armored hummer? Its worth a look.

Been in several different rides at around or slightly over that.
A good friend had a '91 Camaro that was originally owned by one of the guys who worked for Morrison-Cook Racing (Tommy Morrison and Jim Cook) when they had a shop in Albany, Ga. They built custom 'Vettes and a few Camaros for 24 hour endurance racing (Daytona, etc). This thing would handle like it was on rails at speeds well over 130. Of course, I think the only thing stock on it was the shell/frame. The front clip was all tubing and the rear was a 4-link. It had a 355 NASCAR engine block with a one-off custom intake and fuel system. Heck, it even had a set of one-off GM aluminum wheels that the builder traded for something to a guy who worked for GM R&D. Talk about a sleeper, he never did put a good coat of paint on it...it was mostly primer.....and the Mustang 5.o guys fell for it every time.
Now my S-10 was built for straight-line running mostly (it was my daily driver for 4 years, though). It would roll the hides at 85 mph when it shifted into 3rd. It would run faster than 140, but I never red-lined it because it would start getting light on the tires at that speed.
I do miss those days.

My uncle had a Fury (III?) police interceptor. One day after my cousin borrowed the car, he said, dad did you know that car will do 140? And my uncle said, no and I don't want to know it again. :)

This is like a new gun posting.....with NO pics....
