I guess being well trained really isn't good enough....and I even SEALS have stupid moments.
Not the way things should go for our SEALS.
Navy SEAL Shoots Himself While Showing Gun to Woman He Met in Bar
A Navy SEAL was fighting for his life late Thursday after accidentally shooting himself in the head while showing his gun collection to a woman he met at a San Diego bar.

If he had shot himself in the head that was doing all of the thinking at the time he would have been a lot better off.

Police spokesman Frank Cali said the man was drinking at his home about 2:00am with a woman he had met at a bar when he accidentally shot himself.
Cali said the man took out several firearms and, in an effort to prove they were safe when the woman asked him to put them away, held one to his head and pulled the trigger, thinking it wasn't loaded.
Sad situation... I hope he pulls through. The Four Basic Rules apply to SEALs too.

I guess waggling your trigger finger and saying "This is MY safety" isn't so cool after all.
Considering that SF "operator" Barry Sadler shot himself in the head handling a loaded gun in a moving vehicle I would say basic safety rules apply to "secret squirrel super ninja operators" just as much as to us mere mortals.
1 ALL guns are loaded, ALWAYS
2 Never let the muzzle point at anything you don't want holes in
3 KEEP YOUR DAMNED BOOGERHOOK OFF THE BANG SWITCH
4 Be sure of your target and background only applies to intentional shooting rather than general handling of "unloaded" guns
Did I mention ALL guns are ALWAYS considered "loaded", and KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER ?

Yeah, #2 is hard to observe at a crowded gun show. they would have to be displayed muzzle up to have even a chance of working...and that is assuming you WANT to destroy the roof of the place ;D ;D ;D ;D
