I was just reading an article about the peace talks that we are having with the Taliban. Just one question:
When did it become United States policy to negotiate with terrorists?

2009.

Right around January 2009...

But I thought WE were the terrorists.

About the same time as the world apology tour was :'(

There eventually have to be talks with the Taliban.
Even though the group itself is a creation of Pakistani ISI, they represent the largest single ethnic group in Afghanistan, which incidentally, has always supplied the nations leadership, such as it is.
The only options are to get them to work with the current Govt. or be prepared to exterminate 1/4 of Afghanistans population and 1/3 of Pakistan's.

When they won.

Al queda are terrorists, they launch attacks against civilians all over the world.
The Taliban are resisting a foreign military and have never struck outside Afghanistan and Pakistan .
They are no more terrorists than you would be if the UN occupied your home.

Under the latest taliban rule over Afghanistan, the kindest thing we could have done for the population was blanket the area with thermonuclear mushroom clouds.
