Title: Added to my Ruger collection
Post by: red364 on January 22, 2012, 12:13:47 PM
Went to a gun show last weekend and picked up a mini 30, which I was pretty happy about!  Then, saw an ad in the nickel paper and got another mini 30 and a mini 14,,,these ones are ranch rifles. They came with extra mags, ammo, rails, scope rings AND a Ruger telescoping, folding stock (I had to put that on right away!)  And you know what?  All three didn't cost anywhere near that dang Springfield!     ;D ;D ;D

I might be done buying guns for a week or two now...        8)

Very nice finds.

I have long been a fan of the Mini-14. Many folks rag on them about being less accurate than other rifles in their category (and that may certainly be true).....but they more than make up for it in the reliability and durability department......and they can be made to shoot pretty accurately with a little work.

Congrats again.

Cool purchases.  Though not a fan myself, I could almost be tempted from your pictures.

They are ranch/camp carbines...Never designed in a "tack driving" capacity....However, reliability, form, and function....Minute of "dixie plate", in snow, rain, heat or cold, has worked on many a coyote, raccoons killing chickens, possums with a bad attitude, to feral dogs. Even a two legged miscreant up to no good.

Very nice red!!!!! You are quickly achieving a beloved "hated" status, like billt.... ;)

I like the furniture pic alot.!!!!!

P.S. We wouldn't mind some more gun porn of that "dang Springfield"..... ::)

Great find! I'm lovin' the 2 Ruger Mini 14's I picked up a couple of months back. All they do is run. The Mini is one of the most pure "fun guns" out there.

The mini 14 is a great little carbine. I just picked up a mini30 2 weeks ago and I'm itching to go to the range. Best $350.00 I've spent in a long while.

Let us all know how it runs. I'm seriously considering one of those. My 2 Tactical Mini 14's I bought are really nice, well functioning weapons. I would like to add a Mini 30 as well. About the only negative thing I've heard about the Mini 30 is they sometimes will not light off steel cased foreign ammo because they don't have as strong of firing pin springs as the AK-47's do. This can result in light primer strikes on some ammunition.

So far I bought some wolf, tula, brownbear, and some yugo surplus. I have heard the same rumors and I have no doubt my gun will function without a hic up.
