My wife got some grim news about her grandfather and we may be heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma in the next 48 hours. Her grandfather, John, is a veteran of WW2 (Pacific) and one heck of a stand up guy. He lived in Macalister (SP?) and recently was moved up to Tulsa to be closer to family and facilities to care for him. John reminded me of John Wayne and my grandfather (Who was also named John) put together. Tall fellow who would tell you like it was. Straight shooter. It is a pity to lose good men like him though he has lived a long life.
Waiting for the call and then loading up my wife and daughter into the Jeep for that 12 hour drive. It will be nice once we get there to be with family.
While in Tulsa I am going to try and visit the US Shooting Academy. I was looking at their website and appears to have a competition on 1/28. So if we are there at the time, I am definitely going to check it out.

PM Rastus, he'll have information on the shoot!
Safe trip Ping, we'll keep the light on for ya..
God Bless your wife's Gramps...

Thanks. I was trying to remember which of our DRTV buds lived in Oklahoma.

Safe travels!
Best to the family and my prayers go with you.
If it works out, USSA is a great place. I was there under the old management, but from all indications the new is just as good if not better.
Be safe!

Yeah, well, they needed the change-over after that horrible flying UPS shorts incident!! ;)
Safe travels, and let me know if you can't get hold of Rastus - he works crazy hours and does not spend as much time here as he would like to. I may be able to short-circuit the wait. However, he lives near OK City, not Tulsa. Not that far, though.

Sympathies and prayers for your loss.
Have a safe trip to and from, enjoy your time in Tulsa!

Thanks fellas. We are just waiting on the call. I did send a message to Rastus. I understand about working crazy hours. Have not worked a normal shift since I left Chrysler. LOL ;D

Ping, thought and prayers are with you and yours. I think you will enjoy USSA, might also check out Bass Pro in Broken Arrow and the J.M. Davis Gun Museum in Claremore. I am 45 miles north of Tulsa.

Well he did pass on last night. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
Did get in contact with Rastus. Hope to meet up with him while in Oklahoma.
Ranger Dave, I did check out the Bass Pro Shop in Broken Arrow several years back when it was brand new. Nice place. Would love to check out Claremore. Just not sure how extra time we will have. US Shooting Academy is number one on my list after completing my family obligations.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May he rest in peace.
Have a safe trip, my friend.

Thanks again guys. We did make it to Tulsa safely. Worn out but spending time with the family. Actual services are in McAlester which is about 85 miles south of Tulsa. Pretty country but the roads and construction seem to never end. :) Still not as bad as Illlinois/Obamaland.

Glad to hear you made it alright. Once you get out of Tulsa the "shovel ready" projects funded by Obama will disappear. That disorganized mis-managed mess has had the entire city tied in knots by taking out primary and secondary traffic arteries simultaneously.

Kind of like TSA huh ?
Annoy and inconvenience as many people as possible and they will think you are actually accomplishing something ?

Well yeah, but I am hesitant to give them credit for being smart enough for that. It's really bad....I would say driven by pure greed to get the money as quick as possible. Not that the roads did not need work...but that's what the gas tax, etc. is for..HA HA HA HA HA.

But I love paying $2.94 for a gallon of gas in Oklahoma. Have not seen that in Indiana in so long I do not remember?
