I know this isn't news but in light of the F&F mindset of the Administration, creating a problem so it can go after the guns to fix it, this kinda takes on a different light..
Thoughts? In your area?

Does this potentially change how you might plan for a breakdown in social order and packs roaming the neighborhoods?

No.

1.4 million gang members-80 million gun owners. 'Nuff said.
BUT "many of these members are getting inside the military" = how many soldiers? 100,000 or just under 10% of the total gang population? What ever.... ::)
FWIW the soldier in the BI article looks to be throwing up West Coast Customs "gang sign". I heard the same thing when I was in and most of them were "posers" trying to "represent"- fools are fools.

They've been talking about this BS since before the Civil war at least.
Hell, whole Regiments, at least from NY, and Boston were composed of gang members.
In modern times, (since the troops came home from WWI) it has been a fear that never came true.

We had an airman that was later found to be a "Crip". He was immediately discharged after lying on his entrance information.

As examples, Whitey Bulger was Air Force, and his partner Steve Flemmi was Army.
It is estimated that US GI' from WWI brought home 2 million military weapons, about half are estimated to have been full auto.
None of those weapons turned up with the likes of Bonny and Clyde or Dillinger, they got their's by robbing police stations and National Guard Armories.

I think things are different now..

So didn't Julius Caesar.
Every generation thinks theirs is special, very few of them actually are.

Tom, in our history, the only other time our society was as colose to out of control as it is today was the 1880s to 1920s. Even then, Prohibition passed..

Do you remember the 60's ?
18 or 19.
