Title: Intensive coverage - your opinion
Post by: Marshal Halloway on April 04, 2008, 02:30:25 PM
In May, we will start airing coverage of shooting events.

First one is a cowboy action match in Oklahoma (http://www.okcgunclub.org/cowboy/2008_lr_registration.pdf), then it is the Single Stack Natioonals (http://www.uspsa-nationals.org/).

These online shows will be from 60 to 90 minutes, split in sections of 5-8 minute video clips.

We have an idea on how we want to cover these events, but there is still time to get some input from our forum members.

The advantage with online shows compared to TV shows, is that we are not limited to 23 minutes plus commercials and the same goes with topics.

So the question is:
What do want to see covered from a shooting event?

Following the competition is always nice, but having an in depth look at the firearms and ammo being used would be awesome.

I have to agree with Enicire, My complaint about the CAS, and Steel Challenge videos is that they JUSTshow the Shooting with no explanation of rules, scoring, or specific techniques used in a particular type of competition. Be ing more a "Gun guy" than competitor I would also like to see more info on the guns used and how they are adapted for a specific type of compitition. Marshal, I know that I'm asking for a lot of information to be covered and that probably you will not be able to get it all into every show, so I would like to thank you guys in advance for making the effort to get ANY of this information and entertainment out to us.
I understand that the Fastest growing of Olympic sports is shooting, but to watch MSM you would not know there is such a thing.

    THANK YOU DRTV

Thank You Very Much!

Every time I watch a match on TV I wish they would show more.  Like has been said before I would like to see the thought pattern different shooters use to match their strengths to the course, and a commentary by the shooter on their run.

Marshal, I'm going to drop you an e-mail with a video a friend sends occasionally of their match shooting.

I look forward to these programs.  The more views and opinions from shooters in the different disiplines I see the more I learn.

I also really like to see shows that will pull a top shooter aside and have them walk you through a course explaining what the are trying to do tactically at each stage

As an IDPA Match Director...I would like to see more how the stages are set up. And maybe showcase the more inventive props and whatnot.

I agree in all points that the forum members  have stated also where local club sponsors these events as there are not  that may if any at all around these neck of the woods.  I belonged to Livingston gun club some 10 years back and it was a great experience.  I would love to get in the game.

What ericire12 said. Also, maybe a gun-cam, or hat-cam, or something that shows us what the shooter sees as he/she is running the course.
