Got my tax return so finally bit the bullet and picked up a new SR556c this morning. Still debating between eotech 512 or aimpoint comp ml2/3. I'm planning to magpul the furnature this week. Pics to come plus I will do a preliminary video for my YouTube channel before Sunday night.

Great new toy! Can't wait to see it finished.

Inside the house and inside 25 yards the EOTech seems best because it is faster on target than the Aimpoint. It has a wider/larger sight picture that is easier and quicker to acquire. The close proximity to the target does not demand great precision.
Beyond that, the smaller dot in the Aimpoint provides better precision for longer shots than the targeting afforded in the EOTech. You can acquire a target quicker with the EOTech but the Aimpoints aim with precision quicker at "long" distances, for instance head shots at 100 yards, so I can squeeze off a hit quicker than I can with an EOTech at distance.
I've had great service with EOTech.
Aimpoint batteries last much, much longer than EOTechs.
The size of the target comes into play as well. That's where for me, at 25+ yards, it's better to go with Aimpoint to get a hit off quicker. You can't miss quick enough to win.
All that said, if you have the time to turn down and aim the EOTech it is accurate. Mine dims down to 4 dots in the center...but I'd hate to rely on that for distance. If you go with an EOTech and may shoot distances beyond 25 or, certainly, 50 yards configure it with irons as well.

I just can't decide if I want to go desert tan on the furniture. I've ordered some Magpul improvements but need to decide on the stock, grip, and rail covers, whether to keep it black or or tan. I figure it would be fitting if I end up back in New Mexico here like I plan.

I grew up there in SE NM. I've come pretty close to moving back several times and once I find a job there I'm gone.

Garand, what was the deciding factors behind your choice in the SRV vs. Some of the other options out there? Let me say that it is a very nice weapon! I just have other options that come to mind first within that price point and type/option group.
Please don't misunderstand, I am not raggin you or you're choice, just looking to get your reasons. Maybe you might convience me..

I liked the balance of the 556c in comparison to the standard sr556. i did look at the SIG but was no as happy with the way it fit me. i liked being able to go piston that was more adjustable and still be able to use all the normal AR stocks, grips, and the like. it was familiar but gave the added benefits of a GP gun. the TROY hardware didn't hurt either. i liked the sights and how that manipulate . for the price (less than $1500) i felt i was getting a good deal considering all it came prepacked with and the fact that my SR9c was extremely awesome kind of pushed me to want to give it a shot. and the feed back from other users did n ot hurt either.
