Title: Doctors vs gun owners ?
Post by: sweet1911 on February 03, 2012, 04:40:12 PM
Doctors vs Gun Owners ::)

Very interesting!!

DOCTORS

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is
700,000.

(B)  Accidental deaths caused by Physicians
per year are
120,000.

(C)  Accidental deaths per physician are
0.171

[Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of
Health and Human Services.]

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now think about this:

GUN OWNERS

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is
80,000,000.
[Yes, that's 80 million]

(B)  The number of accidental gun deaths
per year, all age groups, is
1,500.

(C)  The number of accidental deaths
per gun owner is
.0000188

[Statistics courtesy of FBI]

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So,  statistically, doctors are approximately
9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

FACT:  NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,
BUT
Almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!!!

+100  ;D
That's why I threatened my doctor the first time I met him 20 years ago. I was very serious and he believes me to this day. Sense then, I go in and tell him what I want and then we talk hunting.

The other aspects of Dr.'s and gun owners is Dr.'s asking patients, especially pediatricians asking children, if Mommy or Daddy has a "gun" in the house...

FL.  dealt with this.

State Rep. Jason Brodeur, a Republican, introduced the bill, which could send doctors to jail for up to five years and fine them up to $5 million for asking about patients' gun ownership, refusing to treat patients who won't answer such questions or entering gun ownership information into any record. The bill has the support of the National Rifle Assn. State Sen. Greg Evers, also a Republican, introduced an identical bill in the state Senate.

The Florida bill was prompted in part by a July 2010 exchange between Ocala, Fla., pediatrician Chris Okonkwo, MD, and the 26-year-old mother of a 4-month-old patient. Dr. Okonkwo asked the mother if she owned a gun, but she refused to answer. For that reason, the physician gave her 30 days to find a new pediatrician, according to the Ocala Star-Banner. Dr. Okonkwo declined to speak to American Medical News for this article.

Here's the complete "anti" gun article from amednews:

Your right tom, I've met em'....When the line of pick ups, and SUV's, Jeep's, and such are all parked at my local range, guess who has the Mercedes, Audi, or immaculate tweaked all leather Tahoe's, for those "roughing it on the range days"...

Good point....Those and the Dentists.... ;)

I got asked about gun ownership once.  I thought about my answer carefully, because I had explained to my wife and children about this going on.  We had discussed how to answer the question.  When I was asked I danced around with questions and comments about being there for a physical or treatment, did my blood test show something, HUH???, etc.  I never really answered their questions, but I don't think it mattered:  Before I could remove my boots, socks and drop my drawers for reflex check and the finger into the nether regions I had to unholster a couple and lay them on the counter  ;D
