One of the fora I inhabit - and there aren't many - has been hacked.
I received a SPAM email with a hyperlink sent to my personal email account, but the email addressed me as "Pathfinder" in the subject line. There are only maybe 6 or 7 possible sources for this, this forum being one of them.
Marshal, any evidence DRTV has been hacked?

I haven't gotten anything. Have you sent out to people that they may have passed on....or maybe someone here bundled up a bunch of people in the To or CC line and then one of those forwarded it to internet eternity?
Just wondering if that's a possibility. One of my beefs is that people forward stuff and don't strip the last email trail off and then don't use the blind copy function when they send.
Just wondering if that email forwarding process was even possible?

Just checked our log including our 2 mail servers which have firewalls. No sign of compromise.
When you get spam like this, check the email header with all the extra info besides to, from and subject info. That will give you further hints on where it comes from.

Who is your email account through?
Last year I started getting spam in my Yahoo email that said it was from Johnny Bravo, but obviously wasn't from JB. I had to delete him from my address book and then wait a while and add him back. I also had the same thing happen with other folks that were not associated with DRTV.

Email header has nothing out of the ordinary, a quasi porno yahoo account ("sexyeyes_angel008 - at - yahoo dot com) sent at nearly 1AM today. Email was sent to my email account (not my name) with "hey Pathfinder" in the subject line. ISP caught it and flagged it as spam, but I told them to send everything through as they were stopping good emails and letting some spam through. It was in my Delete folder where anything flagged as spam goes.
Can't get Outlook to show me anything behind the scenes on this email.
I do NOT use "Pathfinder" with my ISP, only on a half dozen or so fora.

do you use the moniker "Pathfinder" on these other forums you frequent?
I had learned years ago that with google and the website boardreader.com to NOT use the same screenname for every forum?

The oldest virus or hack on the Internet is the use of other people's email addresses.
Over the years, I have received lots of emails where the sender is using one of my email addresses. In most cases, it means that someone's email address book has been compromised. In this case, it doesn't mean you that you have been hacked, but it can be someone who has your email address in his Outlook.
Man variations of this. This article touches on some of it:

The troubling point is that the email used a very limited use user name in addition tot he email address - the email I expect, the use of "Pathfinder" is not expected, this is the first instance I know of it.
Tyler, I was not aware of that "rule" - I will have to change things I guess.
