Well the Leverguns forum has had endless debates about the 444 vs the 45-70.  On that website look in the ARTICLES section and read what Paco Kelly has to say about the 444.  I have one and load my own for it.  Yes it's got a bit of kick to it.

I know several pig hunters that use them.  I've seen a few shot with them, very simlar to wounds created by a warmer 45 70

Tom, that's just plain wicked.  U R an evil man.

Here's one that won't kick, a Higgin's modified Ruger M77 in 44 Mag.  Gotta keep it in 100 yards for large game subsonic...but with an integrally supressed barrel...man it's quiet.  I got one on "backorder" right now pending funds.  Some people think a supressed 160+/- grain 308 is bad...but handload something at 350-400 grains in this baby at the same velocity and you've got the real deal.

I'm not really into lever rifles, I've already suggested some things he can trade toward. But he is a glutton for punishment, He also has a Super Blackhawk .44 Mag   ;D the littlest guy on the firing line with the biggest cannon ;D

I have a freind at work that is small in stature and I tease him often by asking him if his legs still sing when he sits on the toilet. One time thoughI think we went a little to far as the dispatch area is about 4 feet above the floor and we put a childs booster seat in the chair for him, boy did he get mad. ;D
