From a friend:

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

The masses living off the government largess wouldn't understand it. They'd think that it was Bush's fault and bHO was trying to fix it. They'd never see that the quote was Senator bHO and the one pushing for more debt now is President bHO.

It's the way they want it, it's what they voted for.
The only ones truly regretting voting for BO are the ones who didn't get a cut of the pie

"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."
Benjamin Franklin
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." Dr. Adrian Rogers , 1931 to 2005
"A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul."
George Bernard Shaw

This deftly illustrates that Barry Soetoro is nothing more than a double-talking lackey owned by the international banking cartel. Until Americans grasp the utter corruption that is their monetary system, things will not change. Many have woken up and more are doing so every day, enough so, that it makes me optimistic for the future. The youth are increasingly getting it, thanks to Ron Paul.

Thanks to Ron Paul many need to relearn the lessons of the War of 1812.
A country that has no central bank but needs to raise money can only do so by begging individual bankers and paying unnecessarily high interest.
As Jefferson learned with the "impressment" issue, the Quasi war with France, and the Tripoli Pirates, if you can not project power you become a victim nation.
Dr Paul would also benefit from reading "The Influence of Sea Power on history" by Alfred Thayer Mahan.

I can say, with utter confidence, that Dr. Paul has forgotten more about central banking, economics and the monetary system of the US than all of us on this forum combined know.

But we've collectively been involved in more actual "boots on the ground" foriegn policy than he's dreamed of in his lifetime.
And that I would bet a FEW paychecks on

Yes I am sure you are correct, but I am having a hard time seeing the logical connection. I would point out that Dr. Paul served as a flight surgeon in the Air Force during the Vietnam "War". He is the only candidate who has served in the military, and he had small children at the time, and he went when called, unlike Chickenhawk Gingrich. Dr. Paul's knowledge of the monetary system and how it funds, with printing press fiat currency, the Unconstitutional welfare/warfare state makes him, in my opinion, uniquely qualified to make lawful and moral foreign policy. I can't say that about any of the other candidates.

If you look a little deaper in his military "service" he wasn't drafted (the AF didn't get draftees, especially DRs), didn't serve overseas, and left as soon as he could. Yes he spent two years in uniform then three years as ANG, but did that to avoid the Army draft notice he received.
As for relevance, just because he knows something about economics doesn't mean he's got half a clue how to get the job done "in the real world".

Do you have any facts and evidence to back up your assertions?

A couple visits out of country while stationed in TX does not a war hero make.
-
If true, and I'm too lazy to bother to do the research, he doesn't even qualify for a Vietnam campaign ribbon, correct?
-
Only thing I've seen so far besides Boot Camp ribbons is the NDS and Cold War medal, and that's a guess since the only pics of him in uniform he only has his "I'm a doctor" pin.
I'm sure not interested enough for an FOIA request for anything else

The Huff Po article you cite contradicts your statement. Dr. Paul's military service doesn't meet your evidently macho standard. I can certainly live with that. Cheers.
-
huffpo contradicts,.???? I'm shocked!!!!!
In my humble opinion, rather irrelevant. Nothing against Paul's service,....but it no longer warrants today's ever changing political dynamic...
Just ask Rep. Allen West...the qualifications don't matter at this point,....Paul is hammered and relegated to another failed POTUS bid.
As much as I like his ideals, its not going to happen.....
I also hope after the Rep. nominee is chosen the "wisdom" of Paul supporters realize Obama, IS the problem, and cannot secure a second term...
That would be a sign of at least ridding the Country of a real threat,....and who served what and where is caught up in a "bigger picture"...
-
Mauler and his "The world revolves around Paul" BS.
Regardless of his more stupid policy idea's, even his colleagues won't work with him.
And they aren't exactly MENSA candidates.
Based on his record he is a waste of space since he's only gotten one bill passed.
What kind of idiot thinks he'd be any more effective as POTUS ?
-
Yes the HuffPo link is an acknowledgement of his service but in an effort of some level of fact checking (I know, unheard of to SPDs- slobbering Paul disciples) his comments toward Gingrich aren't accurate. Would he have gone in the AF if his notice had come a couple years later when he would have been exempted, just as Gingrich was? Otherwise Paul just followed a similar path that W went and joined the AF instead of getting actually drafted into the Army.

I've said often that this is not the election to vote for whom you think would make the best President, but for the one who has the best chance of defeating BHO.
In a more normal election, one where the miserable Democratic candidate is about as bad as the miserable Republican candidate, that is the time to vote for the one who will do the best job..
For me, that is the Libertarian candidate because the Libertarian Party, by far, supports the ideals upon which this country was founded.
I know they won't be getting a lot of votes....it seems that rather than take a chance that the support for the Libertarian Party can grow, folks prefer to vote the same way they did before and hope something changes....
-
In every election since Reagan I have voted AGAINST someone, not for them. When do we get to vote for a good candidate again?
