It seems we've been losing a lot of talent in recent years with none of it being replaced.
RIP Mr. Heston.

Yes, Tom, but ONLY now. I mourn for the generations to follow who did not live in the moment with Mr. Heston. There was always so much more than just the words in his message. When he spoke, we could reasonably expect it to be chiseled in stone and archived somewhere for revisiting when inspiration was needed. Those following, but not knowing him as we did, will never experience that bolt of lightning up the spine, that tightening of jaw, tensing of muscle, tearing of eye and awareness of moral rage that he evoked in us with his epic delivery, "From my cold, dead hand!". He wasn't acting. He was living. Mac.

There will be only 1 Mr. Heston, his life and legacy will live on if we use his example for the next generation.
One of the greatest actors ever, " A Real Man's Man"
Loved him in Mountain Men, with Brian Keith.
Rest In Peace Mr. Heston, you will be missed...

All the good ones are gone, it seems. It is a sad day. I greatly admired the man, and hope he is in a better place now. He deserves to be.

His death will touch people of all walks, and his personality will come out through it all. The good thing is that every report I have seen this morning says that everything he did from acting, to NRA to his feud with the Screen Actors Guild was HIM! He was a true what you see is what you get man. So far the media is going through this with the dignity of Mr. Heston's personality without spinning it.
By the way, that rigor is pretty tough. Add to that his sincere stuberness, and if he has a gun in his hand it will be there for a long long time. I don't know of a man capable of removing it!

When the scene that he spoke those words"from my cold dead hands" came across the news a true shiver went up my spine. That's the effect that gentleman has had on a lot of people. Remember it. And remember him for it. Rest in peace Mr. Heston as your memory and strength live on.

How could they be so crass as to play that clip on the news....... yet another chance to get in a little anti-gun rhetoric.

Statement of Wayne LaPierre Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association of America
Sunday, April 06, 2008
Today, my heart is heavy with the loss of Charlton Heston.
America has lost a great patriot. The Second Amendment has lost a faithful friend. So have I, and so have four million NRA members and eighty million gun owners. And so has every American who cares about the Bill of Rights, individual liberty, and Freedom.
My heart is heavy, but not without a sense of pride. Pride in a man who devoted his life to his profession with grace and dignity. Pride in an American who devoted himself to civil rights, to correcting injustices around him, and to standing up for what he knew was right. Pride in a friend who stood with me and stood with fellow NRA members to preserve our freedom for future generations. Pride in a patriot who believed with every fiber of his being that our Bill of Rights is the foundation of our freedom that makes Americans singular among the masses of nations.
And now, Charlton Heston has passed that duty to us – the next generation. I am as proud to continue his cause, as I am to have known him as my friend.
But today, my thoughts cannot leave the Heston family. They have always had my utmost respect and admiration and, today, they have my deepest sympathy and most earnest prayers. And they will always have my friendship.

As a friend and I went shooting today, we thought of Mr. Heston and his eloquent simplicity in his speeches and beliefs. Hollywood is losing the grace and honor with which it was started by men and women from a far gone generation that understood what some today have lost.
Sean Penn will never be worthy to stand in ANY shadow cast by Mr. Heston. He will never have honor and be a DECENT man.
Many others of his (Penn) ilk, take on rude, insulting, and frankly "treasonous" remarks that are tolerated and encouraged by the media and others that Al-Quaida enjoy listening to.
Thank you for the video posting, its a shame it will never be replayed in a history class in a public school.
I'm thankful at least the Supreme Court of the USA, at least a few Justices seem to have watched and come to the same conclusion.
"To come to another interpretation, is simply not plausible" RE: 2nd Amendment. Thank you Mr. Heston, May God Bless you and your family.
A truly decent man.
