Seems our previous thread talking about this has a common element; lots of folks wisely stocking up...... I'm sure the other online ammo stores, are getting the same increase in sales...

Plus the stats back it up,....more folks are buying firearms....They need ammo too.....

Of course there is, I have a folder with nothing but at least a dozen ammo resources,...but if it transcends the entire ammo market, we'll have to be more savvy....

Do a quick search for .45 Colt... Find me a "deal".... :-\

You can look them up  and if you look free shipping from people like Sportsmans on Auction Arms or GB but then again you knew that.

The 2012 run is going to be worse than the 2008 run.  And I have barely rebuilt my stock for those shortages   :'(

My best advise is to stock up while you still can. For several years I've been buying more than I shoot. I should be set for life.

To some extent, I think we (meaning active shooters) can be our own worst enemy... so to speak.  We see marketing efforts such as this and then get spooked about ammo shortages - either real or perceived.  News of the impending shortage spreads far and wide and we start running out to buy cases and cases of ammo, brass, primers, powder, etc.  Then, before you know it, there IS a shortage... the shortage WE created by buying wildly outside of our normal purchasing patterns.

I am NOT saying that we shouldn't plan ahead and make sure we have adequate supplies.  I'm just saying we should make buying decisions calmly and logically and stick to our usual buying patterns.

This is very true. The 2008 "shortage" of black rifles and ammunition was a perfect example of the "run with the sheep" mentality of many shooters and gun owners. Cabela's ammo shelves were all but bare for months. And when they had any prices were absolutely insane. I think the only reality with ammo in the future is the fact it is dead weight, and the cost of diesel is going up. Possibly way up when Israel starts blasting with Iran. But that will drive up prices on everything, not just ammunition.

I'm already seeing lead shot at $50.00 a bag. I wish shooters wouldn't react this way causing runs on everything without cause or need. It's good to "stock up", but people should be doing it when it's plentiful. To run out and start buying because of some perceived threat is like buying gold at $1,800.00 an ounce. It's too late and you're going to get clobbered.

I remember shooters back in 2008 were telling me, "It's only going to get worse!", as they were paying $38.00 for a box of .380 FMJ. They were most likely the same ones paying $110.00 for Hi-Cap Glock mags in 1995.
