I've been wanting an SR556 since they came out but the price tag was a killer to me. So I've waited and waited for a decent deal to pop up. I found this one for sale on an international forum for a price I could live with (60% of MSRP) and it had a few magpul goodies as well (CTR stock, MIAD grip, ASAP sling plate, MOE trigger guard).
It was a bit nerve racking waiting on the fella to ship it but once he did, I was the happiest man alive. haha. I picked it up monday.
I put my Aimpoint CompM2 on it as soon as I got it home. I've already ordered a PWS enhanced buffer tube, Troy Medieval flash hider and a Magpul ACS stock and then I'm done with this one. Not going to change anything else. Well at least for a little while. I may get the Giessele Super 3 Gun trigger for it at some point.

I'll take new pics after all the new parts get here.

Lookin' good. It IS a good feeling when you get a good deal on quality stuff and it comes in.
See all you young padawans, with patience and good timing, fortune will smile upon you too.

Nice gun! Let us know how she runs.

Will do guys. I picked up one of the XM855 ammo cans from Walmart yesterday. I won't have time to get to the range until next weekend but I expect to empty the can next Saturday.

Congratulations capbyrd. Hope you get a lifetime of trigger time with your new AR15.

Thanks Ping.
Here is an updated pic. Sorry for the crappy quality.

I swapped the flash hider for a Troy Medieval hider. I put my Aimpoint CompM2 on it. Swapped the stock for a Magpul ACS and installed the PWS enhanced buffer tube to make sure I don't have problems with carrier tilt. I also moved the front sight as far forward as I could.
I'm really happy with it for now but there are still a few things that I want to do. They can wait though. Geisselle Super 3 gun trigger and Troy ambi bolt release.

Very sweet. Look into an upsize to the charging handle latch, not the supersize, but the midsize is great for racking without using the Chinese Eagle Claw Finger Technique.
I put a Badger Medium on mine, and it was I think $20...from Midway. Not too big, not too small,......it's just right... 8)

Yeah thats definitely going to happen. Just forgot to mention it.

So many "tweaks" so little funds.... :-\ (For me anyway),....Heck, I am actually liking my BUIS/ iron sights, better than my leetle red dot/combo....It was purpose built for lightweight, low maint. low recoil, close quarter SD,(zombies), not really the head shot at 250 yds.
I've got something different and more effective for that... ::)
Nice Magpul stock BTW.
As much as I was reluctant about AR's in the past, they have earned their place as a reliable, simple, effective carbine with many parameters of function, that can be customized to a specific purpose, and a true asset if called upon.

very nice piece of hardware!!! i have the sig 516 and love the piston system. one thing i want to make sure for you though. that gas block gets REALLY HOT quickly due to the gasses comming out there instead of your bolt carrier and you want to make sure that your front sight can take the heat. i have magpul buis on mine and had to make sure to put it a couple of slots back from the gas block to make sure not to melt it. have fun with it ;D

In my case, its so many projects, so little funds. I have about 5 projects going right now. Getting close on a couple.

Thanks man. The Ruger comes with Troy battle sights. They shouldn't have any problem standing up to the heat.
