Title: Latest gadgets and such - from the Chalet de Sans Souci
Post by: alfsauve on March 29, 2012, 07:58:15 AM
So I've got a swing arm lamp on the reloading bench, but I've wanted some type of inspection lamp up close so I can see under the top of the progressive press.   I found a neat little flex arm USB lamp designed for laptop users a while back and finally got around to mounting it.

A USB extension cable is clamped to the back of the press with a small "squarish" electrical clamp.   If I come across what I think is a better one I just unplug one and plug in the other.

Speaking USB power chargers.

And even built into the outlet

How large an area does this light?  Is it a spot or general light for the entire press base?

Haz, no need to insult Alf,the guy who played mcgyver was extremely anti gun and insisted that guns in his series were only to be used by the bad guys and never shown in a good light.Speaking of lights... ;D ;D Nice setup Alf,I may just add one of those to my Hornady projector.

It's a small, weak spot, just enough to light the inside of the case to check for powder, which is excellent

I'll be on the lookout for something brighter and with a little more coverage.

Maybe it's just me, but when I look at Alf's reloading set up with its electronic counters and lights and ..., a single name comes to mind

Rube Goldberg  ;D

Rube Goldberg  ;D

Need to remember, Goldberg's background was ENGINEERING.  ;D

Goldberg's father was a San Francisco police and fire commissioner, who encouraged the young Reuben to pursue a career in engineering. Rube graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1904 with a College of Mining degree[1] and was hired by the city of San Francisco as an engineer for the Water and Sewers Department.
