Thinking about purchasing the Kimber Pepper Blaster; is there a way to practice and refill it?

They make a trainer version that contains dye instead of pepper spray.  As far as I know they are not refillable.

I've thought about getting one for dogs, but does anyone know about blowback?  In ND traditional pepperspray not a good idea
