Heads roll as Secret Service sex scandal widens

KIM LANDERS: The Secret Service sex scandal in the United States has claimed its first victims.

Three agents have been forced out of the department as the investigation into the Colombia prostitution scandal widens.

Eleven Secret Service agents were allegedly involved in hiring prostitutes in Columbia shortly before a visit by the US president.

While the Secret Service conducts polygraphs and interviews with the agents and witnesses, new allegations of drug use have now emerged.

I spoke with our reporter in Washington, Stephanie Kennedy, a little earlier.

Stephanie Kennedy, with almost a dozen agents involved in this scandal, why are only three being ousted and why now?

STEPHANIE KENNEDY: Well, the Secret Service issued a statement saying that the investigation is ongoing and that three of those involved in the scandal will be leaving the agency now before the investigation is complete. So one can only assume that a couple of them have fallen on their swords.

One is a supervisor who has been allowed to retire. Another is not a supervisor but has quit but the third one is a supervisor and he's been designated for removal for cause and that means he has been given 30 days notice to respond and will have to put his case for why he shouldn't be forced out.

KIM LANDERS: So while the Secret Service investigation continues, the US media is also of course trying to track down some of the women at the heart of this scandal. What are they finding out?

STEPHANIE KENNEDY: Well, they are finding out quite a lot. They have actually tracked down the woman who was allegedly the prostitute at the centre of this whole scandal. The New York Times has found her and she gives a pretty extraordinary account of what happened.

She says that the dispute over her services occurred when she was leaving the hotel in the morning and involved one of the agents who offered her only $30 for her services and she thought that they had agreed on a price of around $800 before she went to his room.

She says that the argument spiralled out of control and there was a tense struggle in the hallway of the hotel involving herself, another prostitute, Columbian police officers who were called and the Secret Service agents who tried to keep the matter from escalating.

She also talks about what happened on that night and she says that the men were at a club where she met them, they bought a bottle of vodka for the table. After they finished that bottle they bought another one and she says that they never told her that they with Obama and that they were very discreet.

The investigation has also widened now into drug use after an employee of the hotel spoke to the media as well and said that he'd seen a line of white powder, what he thinks was cocaine on the table of a Secret Service agent's room.

KIM LANDERS: For all the embarrassment to the Secret Service, all the damage that is being done to its reputation, can we actually be clear whether this was a serious security breach?

STEPHANIE KENNEDY: Well, there are differing accounts of that. At the time of the incident reports are that the Secret Service members involved had not yet received any classified documents detailing the planned movements of the president and apparently all their weapons were in a secure location.

But, there is a lot of concern here in Washington that the agents could have been compromised during the president's visit but also down the track as potential blackmail victims. So everyone in the US capital is taking this very, very seriously from the president down.

KIM LANDERS: The ABC's Stephanie Kennedy in Washington.

SMOKE SCREEN !

This will be massively hyped in the media to take attention away from "Fast and Furious" and other aspects of Obama's failed presidency.
Other than their wives and a few of the self righteous who know what's best for every one else, who cares if Secret Service agents pay for sex, gym membership, or any other service ?

But, it is salacious, involves pretty South American women and is perfect for distracting the sheeple.

I saw the headline    21 men, 21 prostitutes        and was confused.....

One to one ratio. So where does all this Scandal come in?

Yes it seems quite overblown. At least they didn't post any videos to You tube! It makes me wonder if they are all sick of dealing with the silly liberals around the anointed one. I suspect that the MS media has always had a grudge against the SS for being beyond their influence and now it is payback time.

Another reason to wish for a CTRL + ALT +DEL button for all of Washington.

Just like the Bureau of "Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, (sometimes really big fires, and explosives)......Sounds like a party waiting to happen also..

I heard it was 11 SS agents, and 21 hookers.....That ratio seems about right..... ::)

This comes down to about $40......

Damn the hundreds of thousands wasted at taxpayers expense....Methinks this is not nothing new, just the SS got sloppy on the QT.

It is a smokescreen, but not just for Fast and Furious. Have any of you seen the pictures of Hitlery partying her rather ample ass off in Cartegna? Dancing, high fives, beer guzzling . . . . No? Wonder where the MSM is on that one?

Actually, personal behavior is a big issue for folks with high security clearances.  If there is a "weakness" or proclivity that might be exploited or, perhaps, lead to blackmail, that is a definite security risk.

In this case the MSM may have done the guys a favor.  What they did looks to be legal and on personal time and with the story being broadcast around the world, the risk of potential blackmail has been eliminated.

These guys screwed up....imagine if the hookers were actually good looking?  That particular Colombian pictured was a bit of an oinker IMO!

Since being gay is no longer considered a security risk your argument falls down on grounds that it discriminates against heterosexuals.

The best part is the look on BO's face.

"Oh crap, as if Biden wasn't curse enough,
God, I don't deserve this.
Eternal damnation maybe, but not this."  ;D

This morning I read a story that this is proof that we do not have enough females in the Secret Service  ???  Why  ???  So they don't have to go to bars and strip clubs to pick up dates  ???

Lack of discipline within the Service, and the first name on the list of those fired should be the head of the Secret Service for letting discipline get this lax.  This type of behavior is like rats on the farm:  By the time you see a rat you have an infestation that is damaging your buildings, livestock and grain stocks.  When you have this many agents go over the edge you need to wonder what, not if, will be next.
