Title: Where credit is due.. Senator Shelby of Alabama.
Post by: santahog on April 22, 2012, 01:18:43 AM
Got a letter back from Senator Shelby on the two CC Reciprocity bills.
The gist of the note was that while he could support either one, the better/Constitutional one is S. 2213.
Cudos to Richard Shelby for remembering why he's there..

I got nothing back from Sessions on this one. Most of what I get back from him is telling me that the PATRIOT Act is good for us, or that he thinks that any judge nominated should get an up or down vote.
I appreciate his diplomatic mindedness on things but these guys on the left are playing hard ball and the wrong judge on a Federal Bench lasts longer than he will in the Senate..
He fought for Estrada though.. I'll give him that..

Sessions was also the one who kept hammering Panetta about Congress or NATO authorizing US military action.

I didn't say Sessions was all bad, bu any stretch of the imagination. All in all, he is a treasure. I just think he's a little too "diplomatic" on the judges, somehow thinking that they will grant him the same courtesy, I guess..
Sessions gets all the press. I just wanted to make sure Shelby got thanked as well..

The subject of "compromise" has come up in other threads.
I'm not a fan of it.   ;D

Compromise is fine in a business negotiation, lower price for higher volume etc.
Never in politics.

The left seems to have learned that lesson well enough..

To bad the Republicans don't.
They don't want to appear "unreasonable".
If they were any more "reasonable" they would hand out razor blades so we could all slit our own throats.

Generally.. Even if they start out strong, even if they have the will of the voters behind them, even if they're right and in line with the Constitution, they cave in pretty short order..

Update.. Senator Sessions wrote back and said he supports the 2nd Ammendment.. End of transmission..
