Title: High and mighty but compassionate Obama pities those who Cling to Guns
Post by: Roy Hill on April 11, 2008, 09:36:42 PM
Obama....for change......for all you simpletons in small-town America out there....if you'd just let him...........

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/04/11/obama-draws-fire-for-comments-on-small-town-america/

The telling excerpt:

Obama made the original comments while speaking to a group of wealthy California donors in San Francisco over the weekend. The Huffington Post quotes him specifically singling out towns in Pennsylvania, where he’s trying to woo voters and overcome Clinton’s lead in the polls before the state’s April 22 primary.

“Our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there’s not evidence of that in their daily lives,” he said. “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are going to regenerate and they have not.

“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

My garden, my guns, my family, oh and in this day and age,, my job, and By God, the Flag I fly in my yard everyday, for hopes of a better America and our troops in harms way.

I guess I'm a simpleton too that just "doesn't get it" either. ;)

You mean we cling to the items enumerated in the first two amendments to our constitution?  My god, say it ain't so!  Us poor ignorant cretins.  Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Adams, Franklin etc... must've been ignorant cretins too.  Clinging to such hocus-pocus voodoo as our bill of rights.

Boy, we sure are backwards ignorant #$&!s.

This guy is so out of it. So arrogant. So rude. So thoughtless. I hope the people of PA get a good look at this jerk, end his hopes and send him packing to the slums of Chicago. Not that he would ever live there, but that is where he is from. Some things money just won't correct, lying POS he is.

He just lost that last teeny tiny bit of respect I might have had for him. He and Clinton are now equals. (http://www.rightnation.us/forums/style_emoticons/default/hairpull.gif)

JUST saw him give the speech on the news. So he pities gun owners and those who are sustained by religion? Glad he said that. Hope it works for him as I think it will. Mac.

I live in a small, rural town, population 6000.
I shall cling to my guns and "...The Old Rugged Cross."
If Obama doesn't like that, let him come and try to take them.

I for one am tired of being called a racist just because I'm white.

BAC,

We're pretty much screwed.  Everything is lined up that we will either be racists or sexists this fall.  It won't matter what our beliefs are, we're just going to be Bible thumping, extremest, gun loving, _ _ _ ists.

What's wrong with you people, can't you see that he is right?

For how could he be wrong, when he is a Harvard-educated, politically and socially enlightened "Man of the People"; a modern-day Messiah sent to lead us poor fools into a new era!

Pshaw on those quaint notions set in a Constitution written by dead men more than two centuries ago; merely so much crumbling paper burning in the fires of time and change, to Obama and his informed and oh-so-enlightened supporters.

Pshaw on our need to embrace such superstitions as are promulgated in our Churches, surely that is only our own fear of the dark, our fear of change, and our need to be sheltered from our xenophobic terrors that forces us to be so.. unwielding in the face of his reason and rationality. No doubt if we had benefitted from his own good reverend of 20 years, we might have a viewpoint more in line with the Great Man's himself.

His compassion prompts a deeper understanding of our psychologies than we inferiors can even realize; his intellect can explain away our resistance to be assimilated in to the movement, and he would surely be smug in his nearly super-human ability to comprehend our self-imposed plight if not for his superior moral footing - no doubt provided in part by his pastor of two decades, Rev. Wright.

What a guy! So let us change and throw down our outdated concepts:

We must work harder and pay even higher taxes so that more "immigrants" may enjoy our health services and schools. We must understand that it is not fair to have a higher standard of living than those beyond our borders, so we must erase these barriers totally. And we must ban the labeling of people as "Illegal Aliens" and call the utterance of such words Hate Speech, and condemn it.

We must destroy our guns because by having guns we force "disadvantaged youths" to find their own guns and express their justifiable anger at us for having possessions they want by robbing us. Only when we have nothing they want, and nothing to threaten them with, will peace reign in the inner cities!

Finally, as is said "..And the children shall lead" we must look to the throngs of young people who are flocking to the Great Sheperd's cause, and follow their wisdom. They are unfettered by the need to support themselves, being ensconced by their bourgeois parents and haven't been damaged by the toil of experience, so they have a clarity of spirit we lack.

Perhaps we might devote ourselves as they do in their worshipful contemplation of Him and so lose the last of outmoded superstitions; we might even attain a state of grace close to Obama's ourselves, one where we too may see statements such as "Goddamn America" as the welcomed spiritual guidance worthy of inspiring the man who would lead us all.

Messiah,  I think in the Bible it says the next so called Messiah would end up being the Anti-Christ.

Excellently explained, Mr. Fawkes, and very compelling. I am most certain I can attain enlightenment, as soon as I can resolve just one brief flash of intellectual curiosity.

Imagine magically transporting ones self back into the same room in Philadelphia, at the same point in history, as our Founding Fathers stridently labored over the verbiage of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.. I mean, standing shoulder to shoulder with those giants of our national origin. Then listen to their response when they are shown the front page of USA Today, 2008, with the front runners pictured prominently. What would they say? What else might they, would they, have written? I wonder.

Once I can accept that their works would have emerged unchanged, I'll report for re-programming.

bho does have that stink about him, no? The Anti-Christ stink that is.

And as bho's pastor would no doubt point out, the Constitution was not just written by dead guys, it was written by dead white guys.

bho is a communist and a tyrant in waiting. he must not be elected President. Getting him out of the Senate would be a good thing too - for this country and our pocketbooks. Of course that goes for more than half of the current Seante, and a goodly chunk of the House as well.

What the SLAVE OWNING Founding Fathers, Like Jefferson, would have said about Obama would be considered hate speech today, somewhat like trying to get a farm tractor elected, back then women were also considered to be "Property" of thier husbands. I think the comments made would have the 21st century MALE observer rolling on the floor laughing   ;D   A female observer would be looking for a castrating knife   :o   ;D
