Met a member at my local range, who is part of the Thurs. group. I usually am working on Thurs. but took a long weekend and was I lucky.
This BAR was used in the 1966 Steve McQueen Movie, "The Sand Pebbles".

It was actually fired (blanks) of course, during the filming by Steve McQueen himself.

It is full auto only and in its original WWI configuration.
This is the vid of me firing it in bursts. Click on image to Photobucket link

My son also had the chance to fire it.

Yes its 19 lbs. of whoop ass, but the recoil is a rhythmic push, not a slamming shove.
I'm removing the "Got To Fire A BAR" from my bucket list. It was AWESOME to shoot!!!!!!
What a treat. ;D

If its the "drum" mag your referring to, it was a Savage old school .22 full auto, perhaps older than the 180. sorry I was FuBARed.. :P
But I'd bet it was. Good eye billt!
It is a top loading drum fed full auto .22 that made a "whizzzzzzzzzzz" sound after all rds. were fired. It went to the rifle to the left of the BAR.
The damn thing sounded like a weedeater while firing. He said it was around 600 rpm..... I have no reason to doubt it.
I did not fire it. but watched his sons shoot it....you could mow the yard with enough ammo.... ::)
I need next Thurs. off...for his M-60.... ;D

Bill, if you look close you can see the gun to the left of the BAR in the top photo .
