Title: Who Screwed Up At Outdoor Channel?
Post by: MikeBjerum on July 12, 2012, 08:05:40 PM
I like Rob Pincus, and I like his work, so I am not ranting against him.  I also like every show like this I can get, so I'm not saying I don't want more.

What I am saying is this:
How did the contract with Outdoor Channel miss something that would let Rob Pincus get up and running with a similar show on a competing network so quick?

I remember it always being up in the air about whether there would be a next season of the shows, each and every year...so I doubt there was much of a long term contract in place.

Also, there were the comments that the shows were short of budgeted funds and time to provide the type of coverage the topics required.

Didn't know Rob had another show going on another channel.  Any thoughts about if the above concerns are any better at his new place?

That's probably why he left OC!  The Pincus is a bit too "tacti-billy" for the Outdoor Channel anyway!

This new thing looks more like aspiring operators, something he ain't!

Any attorney worth their salt is going to make sure the key players can not make these moves so quickly.  That is the reason you see news people being out of the market for periods of time between jobs in the same market.  We have a personality in the Twin Cites that went from chair #1 here, to chair #3 in Chicago for four years before coming back home as chair #1 for a rival station.  Rob never missed a beat.  Wham bam thank you mam, and he is competing.

That is just business. Always in life there are changes that we are not going to agree with. Bummer that Pincus left the Outdoor Channel but there are still great people there to maintain with Michael Janich,  Michael Bane and Mike Seeklander. All is well so don't sweat it.  ;)

It mayhave something to do with the standard "non-compete" clause of a contract. I have been dying to get in on one of his classes fo a while.
